If you guys miss the late recruiting drama that we got back in '10, '11, '12, '13 then check this story out. Zach Evans the #1 running back in the country has been on a roller coaster ride. First heard abut him watching the all-american game, but man this is a weird story. If you're into this kind of stuff, definitely worth 15 minutes of searching.

Just over 10 years ago, the #1 ranked RB (Bryce Brown) was flaky as hell, had a handler selling recruiting updates and threatened to go to the CFL out of high school. All that drama got him to UT in middle of March.

Left UT to go to KSU (his brother was there) and flopped. Somehow he ended up having a brief run in the NFL, but he was most assuredly a bust. Evans needs to be careful he doesn't end up the same.

Anyone in the know about what happened re the #1 RB Evans, released unconditionally from his LOI by UGA?

Kid is just a bigger pain in the butt than UGA wants to deal with. He has shit talked teams, unofficially committed to several teams, got suspended multiple times on his high school team. The list goes on.

Zero percent chance this recruitment is on the up and up, now Evans is being predicted to A&M. SEC recruiting at its finest.

Pretty clear the kid wants to go to SCar, but his mom is still trying to pimp him out to the highest bidder. Pretty scummy on her part.

Or she already did, SCar wasn't the highest bidder, and now they're trying to figure out what to do.

Just saw this and hadn't seen it posted here yet, but this is quite impressive this day in age:

"For the third consecutive recruiting cycle, Clemson did not lose a pledge to a decommitment.
This per the fine folks over at 247Sports. The Tigers, who just wrapped up the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, went the entire 2020 cycle without a decommitment. Same as in 2019. Same as in 2018. 247Sports offers one eye-popping number to put this in perspective -- for the 2020 cycle, alone, Miami saw a whopping 20 recruits back off their initial commitments to the program at one point or another. Just another sign of the strength and health of the Tigers football program, on just about every level. Clemson has yet to nab a No. 1 class under HC Dabo Swinney, but that's a minor quibble. The consistency, here, is simply remarkable. One more nugget from 247Sports -- only two prospects who took official visits to Clemson ended up opting for pastures elsewhere. Two."

Definite Kudos to Mack Brown. But, they only have 1 commit outside of NC. In a Covid-19 world it's easier than ever to keep guys home. So, they are finally doing a good job of keeping everyone home and they happen to be the beneficiaries of a big year for recruiting rankings in NC HS football.

Also, it's a little bit of luck as well. Drake Maye was going to UNC as long as UNC wasn't a complete dumpster fire due to his family history. Makes it a lot easier to recruit NC kids when the potential 5 star NC QB stays home.

Not sure where to put this query but as it would apply to all schools this is as good as any. I was listening to Mike Frank’s podcast and they were discussing what would happen if there was no 2020 season. Would the likes of Book, Eichenberg etc stay around? If this happens then what happens to the 95 scholarship roster? You’ll have the majority of your current roster still there and another 20-25 graduating from high school for the next season. How would it work?

Man, that could really screw things up. Obviously a lost season will bring on some new rules. Will be interesting to see how it develops and the responses that evolve. This could get crazy. A lost collegiate season would also impact the pro situation.

Barring something insane, they’re gonna have a football season in 2020. Whether that’s September, October or even January or February start time, they’ll have a football season. It’s too important to every college in America. Financially you’re looking at entire athletic budgets being wiped out without football revenue so they’ll make it happen at some point. Swimming, Gymnastics, Crew, Bowling and a whole host of other sports will be changed into club sports in a blink of an eye without football revenue and basketball revenue. I have a feeling the NCAA will do some serious maneuvering to make sure football happens. Also, California was the first state to implement the stay-at-home order and they’re on Day 41 of it. A ton has happened and changed since that time and there’s 3 months before even training camp would begin. A lot more things will change in the coming months and we don’t know what’ll happen with the coronavirus. There could be a second wave and more quarantining but I’d be shocked if there’s no college football by May 2021 (end of college year).

So in the latest 247 update OSU is either leading for or has commitments from 6 of the top 13. Yikes.

Wonder what happened since the last update to warrant any changes at all? No camps or anything, it's a joke. Gotta make money somehow..(don't even give a shit about our players going up/down, just think it's totally ridiculous)

Part of me wonders if CFB will start to get boring if keeps being this top heavy.

i used to hate NFL and think CFB was awesome back in the Boise State Fiesta Bowl era but now its the total opposite. Parity is what is making the NFL great and the lack of it is making CFB so dull and a straight procession from august to january.

Totally agree. There are only 4-5 teams max with a legit shot at a title.

An interesting stat I read about recruiting during the era of covid. As of a few dates ago, there were well over 1,000 high school kids who have already announced their commitments. Last year at the same time it was only around 400. The question posed was will this amount of early commitments lead to a lot of decommitments around national signing day.

logical enough for kids right now to save their spot but yeah its gonna be a feeding frenzy later on. Might make NSD actually interesting again for the first time since they changed the rules

Sure sounds like kids were worried and committed asap. IMO, I think you may start seeing a lot of flipping as soon as visits are allowed.
