I was surprised to see the freshman get into the game, but he surprised me. He has some great speed and I think he might surprise a lot of people in the next few weeks and will work himself into regular playing time...maybe even starting. On the big sack by Crum late in the game, #53 (Richardson) was tearing around the outside and would have gotten to the QB before Crum, but he was obviously held by the lineman (no call though). I am looking forward to more of the freshman making big plays in the next few weeks!

Yes, I'm hoping to see some frosh get some snaps as well. Only bad frosh play though was a long pass play blown pretty bad by Darrin Walls on Johnson. Just got beat off the start, which shouldn't happen because of Walls' speed, and bad positioning led to the completion. It was nice to see Munir Prince get a couple snaps on the offensive side too. I hope to be seeing him break out some more.

He's got speed off the end, something that we lack without both of our starting defensive ends. Vic is a great player, but against an athletic, mobile team like GT, Vic was rendered worthless.

I think this is where you're going to see Weis recruit hard... SPEED, SPEED, SPEED!

No doubt!! I agree. There is no way to create or teach speed. Speed is a God-given ability that some athletes are blessed with and coaches take advantage of it. You can make some athletes appear faster by teaching them better pursuit angles on the field, but speed to burn is always an asset that coaches need to build winners.

Mo Rich is gonna be a good one.

If I counted correctly, 10 freshmen played. Young, Richardson, Prince, Walls on offense or defense.

Brown, Gaines, McNeil, West on ST. und said that Ryan played I'm assuming on special teams and it also said Jackson played.

He looked good, someone should start a thread about how all the freshman performed, I'd like to get everyones opinions, especially Sam Young. Do you think Darrin Walls is going to be scared to go up against any receivers this year after going 1 on 1 vs CJ. I think not.

you can get better at anything you might not be able to teach speed but you can get faster duke i wish i had all the tape on every dfensive player they where solid and i mean SOLID the g tech tail back wasnt reggie bush but he was quick and he almost broke the game wide open but the d didnt let him and ol calvin he is a monster probably one of the toughest people to cover in the nation and the qb ball not the best but he could do 2 3 things good he could throw it he could run it our d did a fantastic job im so proud of them its not even funny true enough icant take many games like that i had the worst head ache i ever had but in the end if the results are the same nd up bye 1 2 3 4 at the end of the game the job was done

Speaking of freshmen, did anyone notice if Prince got any carries? I missed a good portion of the game because my satellite went out. I was kind of wondering if Weis might try to keep him a little secret until PSU of Michigan.

He didn't get any carries. He split wide on several pass plays but didn't touch the ball.

i thought even though Walls got beat on the play to Johnson it was not his fault. he was with him the hole way and as far as not buping him that is a coaches dicission not the players, it was just a perfect pass and a great catch. lets not forgett he is the best WR in the nation and for the coaches to put him in on that guy man on man says something about the kid and his skill.

The coverage was good. His only mistake was not turning back to look for the ball when Johnson started to go up for it.

The defense looked a lot more dynamic with the nickel..and maybe dime sets (was Dime used?).

But, tbh, I didn't notice Richardson.

Did McNeil get any reps? I saw Walls in there a couple of times, including the CJ reception, unfortunately. But he looked pretty good and I didn't really notice any other mistakes.

I want to see Munir Prince get somes carries. Hes very fast. Reminds me of another number "25" of the Irish. Hope Weis gets some confidence to give him the ball. He could break some big plays.

I saw Jackson on a the field for one play. His number didn't ring my bell and I checked it against the roster. Brown got an Illegal Block called on a kick return.
