I know I am being a bitch but I was reading this article RE: Georgia vs S.Carolina and this snippet bugged the hell out of me:

South Carolina 35, Georgia 7. The matchup of then-undefeated, top-10 teams was over before the first quarter ended on Oct. 6, 2012. Gurley, then a freshman, remembers one thing above all else. “Just getting the crap beat out of us,” he said. Georgia would rally to win the rest of its regular-season games and take the SEC East. It would come within five yards of beating Alabama in the SEC title game. Anyone who saw the subsequent Alabama-Notre Dame game knows that means the ‘12 Bulldogs came five yards away from winning the national championship.

Transitive property is transitive. Not all SEC teams are equal.

I actually thought ND matched up better with UGA anyway. I would have much rather played them.

BTW I am going to the UGA -Carolina game this weekend. Could be a blow out.

It's really the dumbest thing ever. Football is about matchups. Georgia had an offense (re: worse OL) that would've played into our hands defensively much better than Bama, plus worse coaching that wouldn't be as experienced getting a team ready for that stage.

They also had a substantially worse defense on every level, which would've given our offense a chance to make plays. So if you D held them below 24ish points and we got a couple breaks...

So few people appreciate that the reason that Bama game got out of hand was:
1. Diaco made no changes to our base defense. No wrinkles at all.
2. KLM got hurt early, so our trump card of Tuitt-Nix-KLM that we used all year no longer existed. They ran at Day... true frosh at the time... all evening after KLM went out.
3. Our offense was not built to come back at all, and Bama's front 7 was too good to grind out yards against with a run first offense.

I'm very confident that had we played Georgia or Oregon or Kansas State it would've been a MUCH closer ball game.

But... SEC !

Every time I get close to almost forgetting about that game, someone brings it up again. Can we make a rule to never speak of it again?

I wouldn't bet on it.

Literally, every year, we hear how much talent georgia has and are asked if this year will finally be the year for the bulldogs. And it has never happened.

This georgia team is now touted simply because they beat a clemson team that lost its playmakers on O, and all but one on D. Clemson is perpetually overrated like georgia.

I won't go so far as to say that the 'Cocks will beat georgia this weekend, but richt and georgia will pick a couple games this year to snatch a couple gross losses.

Carolina switched to a 3-4 alignment this year. I can say they absolutely do not have the personnel to run it. They literally were behind TA&M all game. I am not calling a blow out but I have very little faith in their defense. Additionally it looks like Spurrier has another "QB" issue. I would not be surprised to see Dylan Thompson pulled in and out of this game a few times.

I do not doubt Spurrier will have wrinkles for this game but I think both Clemson and USC were vastly overrated in the preseason.

Either way it's gonna be a great time for me. I have no dog in the hunt and I will be drunk.

Keep in mind as well that this will be the Ga QBs first road game in an extremely hostile environment as a starter. H eis going to have to make some plays Sat. Gotta go back 10 years till the last time Ga scored 20+ points at Columbia. Throw in the "at least one game a year" Richt coaching fiasco, the fact that the SCar defense plays more in to Ga's strength of running the ball, so a Scar win would not surprise me at all.

As far as the Irish beating Ga in the NCG, it would have been a very tall task. Not impossible, but difficult at best. Luckily for me we will never know.

Talk is cheap. I like the Rockets. We all go to quite a few games. Occasionally, UT will beat someone they shouldn't : Indiana, Purdue, Penn State. But usually the results are like last weekend. Missou manhandled the Rockets, at the Glass Bowl. But here is the most ridiculously short path I could think of showing. Only people that have no knowledge of football do these things. And I am thinking that this is the majority of SEC fans. That is why they are not Old Miss, or Ark fans. Or Gator fans. They don't know enough about life or football to pick a winner. So they roll with the hot hand, and live in the land of mutual agreement.

Div I - FBS Toledo beat Navy 45 - 44
Div I - FBS Navy beat Pittsburgh 24 - 21
Div I - FBS Pittsburgh beat Notre Dame 28 - 21

Therefore, Toledo is better than Notre Dame in 2013
as shown in 3 rounds by a combined score of 97 - 86.

What will be interesting is to see how much of a difference BVG's defense makes next time!
