Posted on DD as well,,,

I am sooo sick and tired of hearing about weather (cold, gray skies, snow) being a BIG, HUGE negative in recruiting!

It's freaking ridiculous! Yes, for approx. 8 weeks out of 52 a year, it can be pretty darn cold here in South Bend (32 or below). That's what sweaters, coats, gloves and a naked woman is/are for! Stop being a crybaby! Snow is beautiful! Blankets of white covering all the nastiness and imperfections of the world around you. Snow bunnies, skiing, walks through a lite falling snow are things to cherish. Crisp cool air filling your lungs in the morning while sipping on a nice cup of hot coffee.

The rest of the year, changing of the seasons, colors of the tree's, being able to wear that all to cool jacket in Autumn that you can only wear on a winter night in Florida (and not too far south). Have you ever been on Campus during a Fall afternoon at about 50 degrees with a ND sweater and the brown and golden leaves indiscriminately falling to the ground while drinking a warm cup of cocoa? I have and it's almost a spiritual experience, especially holding the warm hand of the girl you love!

Then you have Spring! Everything seems to be coming back anew. You can almost feel "LIFE" permeating it's way back in the air you breath. You can feel the new and budding life as a texture in the atmosphere that is around you. It almost makes you horny and dwell to find love. A rebirth of everything around you, a waking up from a nights sleep, feeling refreshed and new! Bright colors all around popping from nature and filling the senses.

Then, of course, comes Summer. There's plenty of positive things to say about Summer. Beaches, bikini's, sand, cool breezes from the sparkling blue water that doesn't seem to have an end (YES! We have that here! Ever been to the Dunes off Lake Michigan? Better than the Pacific? Hell yea, NO SALT!!). Let's speak of the negatives of Summer. 90-100 degree days where you're sweating like a sponge being closed in a fist. Stifling HOT, HUMID air that you wonder if there's any oxygen to feed your body. Yes Southerners, we have hotter than hell days up here in the "North Pole". Asphalt that burns the calluses off the bottoms of your feet. Hot enough to literally fry an egg. Ok, we don't have palm tree's. Really? You would make a 40 year decision for a tree? MY GAAAAWD!

It's not the weather that's the problem here in the midwest, it's that much of the football talent is from warmer (and in my opinion) more consistently boring weather region of the country. I don't know exactly why but it may have to do with training for football longer in warmer climates or High Schools actually "recruiting" better in the south and the west. But don't tell me that weather in the midwest is "worse" than down south! It's not worse! It's just DIFFERENT. When recruits say that weather is a factor, all I hear is, "I don't want to experience a different living environment than what I am used to". That's all!

I'd rather sit in a hot tub outside with 35 degree weather with a wet thick snow lightly covering my head for a few months than be parched and cooked in Coppertone while my own bodily fluids are seeping out of me (sweat) for 45 months out of the year just so I can find some relief and shade from a palm tree now and then.

Just as Notre Dame is unique and diversified, so is the weather and it should be loved and embraced for it's positives, not it's negatives!

"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!!"

Every winter in the midwest I wonder why I left Cali. Of course, I remember about all the wackos, illegals, gangs, drugs, earthquakes, wacky local govt's .......and then I'm ok.

" Yes, for approx. 8 weeks out of 52 a year"

I dont know about South Bend, But here In Grand Rapids Michigan (Which isnt that far away) its colder ALOT more than 8 weeks out of the year. Its cold here beginning early November through late March and sometimes into late April and into early May. So according to my calculations thats on average about 6 months out to a 12 month year where it is ass cold and dark and cloudy and depressing. So I can understand totally why some kids dont want to play up here in the arctic. Youre point doesnt make any sense what so ever to me at least. If I were a 5 Star recruit I would choose a warm location over a cold one any day. Just my opinion.

I could never live up north again after living in the South...I can play golf at least 4/5 times a month in Dec, Jan, and Feb. I start wearing shorts in March. The weather is a negative for South Bend. Face it, it is reality.

Wasn't Jeffrery Daimer, Unabomer, John Gacy, The Oklahoma City Bomber's from the mid west?

I grew up in northern Indiana and went to school in Lansing...Norhtern IN gets cold and snow (including lake effect) but just going slightly north to Lansing, it was colder and for longer. Plus if the weather is such a recruiting problem, why does scUM get good recruits? Why does any florida school get recruits when the hurricanes come (and I don't mean the U)...same w/ LSU after Katrina....BC gets some good guys and noreaster suck big time!

I think if you really like a school for the school and what it can do for you (not just in athletics), then the weather doesn't really matter...otherwise Hawaii would get way better recruits than they do now

Weather is about fifth on the list of reasons (legitimate ones anyway) that ND MIGHT struggle to recruit some players and CAN'T recruit them at all with a lazy coach or staff:

1) Academic requirements
2) Negative Recruiting
3) Physical Distance from Homes
4) Legitimate Lack of Bimbos on campus looking for a man and not a degree
5) Weather

That's just off the top of my head, but really what does it matter in the end? If a kid does not want to be at ND then all the begging, pleading and cajolling in the world would not help anyway - they would be miserable, under-perform and transfer or flame out anyway.

No, its better to have a class of 22-24 solidly commited guys who WANT that Gold helmet and ND experience. If they don't "get it" then no one can MAKE them get it. To borrow heavily from Yoda - Do or Do Not...there is no try...You either WANT ND or you DO NOT, there is no in-between that would make it worth while to non-motivated types...

So what are you saying, that ACamp is a psycho, illegal alien, drug running member of the crips who is eagerly working his way up the municipal employment ladder?

Weather is tough to overcome with southern or west coast kids but more of a reason to give CW & CB even more props for this class! I live in Ohio and around this time of year wonder why I still live here!!!!

I have to take issue with this one Moostache! Maybe a lower number of Bimbos, but most of them at ND came with a trustfund, not a trailer park background (not that there is anything wrong with that, its just that if you get serious with a girl, its great when you find out she is loaded and Daddy owns a company that you can start in right away even if you are a knob and sqeak out of ND with a C avg and a degree)

I hate the cold with a passion, since I work outside. My daughter hates it even more. But even she said there is no way to turn down a Notre Dame offer, which she hopefully gets one day.

I visit Fl for 3 -4 weeks per year, but honestly I'm getting sick of all the crying down there about hurricanes. And sick of the govt. bailing them out every time one hits. Same for fires and earthquakes in Cali. If you can't take the heat..........

Please tell me your kidding? That's about the dumbing f-ing post I've seen in quite a while...and believe me, I've seen some dumb ones.

You come to ND, you come to make yourself better, not to squeak out a C avg and limp into daddy in-laws business. C's don't cut it at ND. You want that type of experience, I'd highly recommend the SEC or wherever they give these kids of question a free pass.

I wouldn't go to Florida for the weather, I'd go for Urban Meyer's handjobs.
