Well I hope the day is successful as when my sister got married. It was the ND-Miami game when ND won 31-30. Why on earth would anyone get married during football season????....That's why there is summer!....:)

I watched a little of the MSU game today. They didn't show me too much. I think we are starting to build confidence and, people have to admit, this team is showing it can improve. Maybe not as fast as some would like, but we are getting better.

Plus, we seem to play them pretty tough too!

The key is slowing down Javon Ringer. If we do that we can win, if not it could get out of hand. The best thing is they run a traditional offense, not this spread stuff that gives our defense trouble.

If we are going to stop him, we are going to have to cut him way down on yards after contact.

MSU doesnt run a spread. our D-Line would be really good if John Ryan(Yes, I am singling you out) could just make a god damn tackle

How does this guy run for 282 yards and they only score 17 points? I didn't see the game or the stats but that just seems kind of strange. Were they looking past Fla Atlantic to the juggernaut that is ND?

I agree that our defense should be better equipped to handle a more traditional offense like State's. I also agree that tackling WILL be the determining factor whether or not we win this game. If we tackle Ringer like we tackled McGuffie, we will get beat, no doubt about it. I'd like to see John Ryan sitting on the bench next week with Darius Fleming, Kerry Neal, Ethan Johnson and Justin Brown all getting more reps.

According to und.com, ABC is carrying it. Which means us folks on the West Coast are probably screwed. :(

You are absolutely right. Ringer is their whole offense pretty much. Someone else pointed out how stange it was that he went for 282 and they only had 17 points - very true. They looked very one dimensional to me. Whenever Hoyer was forced to throw, he looked very unsure and really stared down his receivers. If we can just keep Ringer's production down a little, we will be in this game. He is not going to beat you all by himself. Offense has to have some sustained drives and keep give the D some rest. If we have some good sustained drives on offense, our D will have fresh legs and we will have a great shot.

How about the entire defense? Outside of Bruton and McCarthy our defense is a horrible tackling defense. Ringer isn't as shifty as McGuffie and hopefully the weather conditions are more favorable in terms of tackling.

We ran the ball fairly well on them last year FWIW. Hopefully the offense comes to play.

I'll be honest... unless we lose but 20+ I am happy... 2-1 with Navy, Standford, Washington, Pitt, BC, UNC, Syracuse and others still on the schedule we are def. going a bowl game... that was my wish all along...

BUT I wish that we do NOT win enough to get into the BCS... we won't play ECU or Fresno in the BCS... we will get UGA, or Florida or some other team we would have no buisness playing.... let's win seven and get in the gator bowl... and end the bowl losing streak

with all that said... I would love to beat Farty

7 wins = not in gator bowl. Sun bowl would be the destination.

I was just reviewing some MSU stats for this season and it's really not that impressive. Their QB is completing about 46% of his passes and only has 1 TD and 1 INT. They do have Ringer running the ball, but nothing else spectacular. They lost to Cal (who by the way lost to Maryland...unipressive!) and they barely beat Fla Atlantic. It also looks like their secondary is banged up which will be good for Clausen, Tate and Co. I'm sure they'll be the favorite, but I don't see why we can't hang with them. I think I'm more worried about Purdue coming up.

Comparing teams losses is a moot point. USC destroyed Virginia, so did Uconn... Does Uconn==USC? Hardly. Maryland always pulls some shockers, they do it every year. Cal still racked up over 500 yards I think on them, but too little too late.

The thing thats absolutely going to kill us this year is the Blitz that never gets to where it needs to be.

Just want to see continuing growth. The Mad Scientist has them om the right path. I dont see why we cant be competitive in this game and pull it out late.

i am quite tired of losing to msu, this has always been one of those teams that should not beat us on a regular or even fairly regular basis. and here they have beaten us handily too many damn times in the last 8 or 9 years.

i will agree on the comments about ryan, i have grown tired of the way that he plays and he does not contribute nearly enough at this point to warrant playing time. i get frustrated every time i see him on the field at this point. no ill will toward the guy but we have better athletes than he is at this point.

the defense MUST MUST MUST sure tackle, form tackle, wrap up and drive with ringer he has killed us in the past and i am fearing that he will kill us again.

this past week was a definite move forward, hopefully there will be many more to come. i think that msu will be a very very challenging game and they are definitely a top 25 team in my eyes. but i am SICK SICK SICK one more SICK of losing to msu. they have no business beating us anymore.

My cousin got married in Philadelphia on the day the Flyers were playing the Red Wings in the Cup Finals. During the reception half the crowd wen to the bar and watched the entire game. That was pretty amusing.
