Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to all of you loyal, dedicated, and well above average Notre Dame fans. Since I think I am the only Notre Dame fan within 50 miles or so, I enjoy Irish Envy immensely and appreciate all of the thoughts, discussions, arguments, information, and fights that we hang on each other.

To the Mods and Admins, thank you for all of the time and effort you guys put into IE. You do a great job and I appreciate it.

My thoughts and prayers to the Sullivan and Seeburg families, your losses are our losses and I hope you find peace and comfort.

Again, Merry Christmas to all, hope Santa finds you and finds you well.

As my eloquent 7-year old son stated this morning, "I-RISH you a Merry Christmas."

Brilliant.

Don't forget Floyd. There are those who feel I could use a good haircut.

I send this out to each and every one of you ... with a tip o' me hat, a wink and a loving smile in remembrance of my father who always made sure that Der Bingle was crooning away on "the box" as his five kids pounced on the presents under the tree.

dshans - you'll be pleased to know that Floyd is alive (80+ something) and well and still giving haircuts. Tourists wait in line to get a cut and he will be glad to fix you up! His real name is Russell and I'm sure wishes you a Merry Christmas!!

I'm pleased to hear that. Is his hand steady enough to give me a straight razor shave, complete with a hot, damp towel around my face (to soften things a bit) and heated lather without my bleeding to death? This would be after the snow melts here in Minnesota, of course. Have Floyd pencil me in for July 10th.

Is Thelma Lou still single? Does Otis still have a reserved "suite" at the Mayberry jail?

Why do I remember all this shyte after so many years???

Feliz Navidad. Joyeux Noël.

dshans - I don't know if Floyd still does all of that or not, but I'll stand by with 911 punched in just in case. If you survive, he'll take your picture and put it on the wall. He has thousands.

July 10th sounds good but he's closer to 90 than 80 soo I wouldn't wait too long.

As for Mary Lou, you're in luck. She lives right around the corner from me and is very much on the prowl. I'll pass your name along to her. Meanwhile here's a link of her recent activity:

3-4 years ago, my wife and I were in our motorhome on what has become our annual sojourn to Savannah, GA. Suddenly, at Lexington, KY, I took a hard left and started heading east. She was in a panic, thinking I had taken a wrong turn. I told her, no, it's just that I've been down this way so many times, and I've always wanted to see Mt. Airy, the real Mayberry. She, predictably, complained all the way there. She repeatedly said she couldn't believe I was going to drive 200-300 miles out of the way to go see this. Well, after touring the town (I didn't get a haircut at Floyd's, but we had a great porkchop sandwich at the Snappy Diner) she said, on the way out of town "Wow, that was really cool. I'm glad we went." Which, after 30 years of marriage is about the ultimate compliment. So, cheers to Mayberry.
