Without reading it I can sum it up for you. McShay == Douche. Not even a douchebag, just a douche.

A while back I watched an ESPN segment where both McShay and Kiper presented their views as to who the top players were. I subsequently saw a segment where each described who they thought the best QBs were.

In each segment, Kiper had way more data and persuasive arguments to support his choices. In one part of the QB segment where each was permitted to retort to the other's position, McShay was incapable of doing so intelligently. He came off as a childish whiner. Frankly, it was embarassing to watch.

He may not last much longer in his ESPN role. I have heard that he gets the air time he does only because he is less expensive than Kiper. I know I wouldn't hire him. I also agree with the quote in the article describing him as an arrogant asshole. Seems to be a spot on observation.

All of these things you describe are exactly why ESPN WILL keep him.
Here's the thing about ESPN - you really shouldn't treat them as any sort of "news" agency. Their business model now is much like the Fox News, MSNBC model - lots of yelling, opinions without substance, things that get the audience fired up. They figure, without emotion, rating go down. They may be right - humans are generally dumb like that.

So, any jerkoff who makes you mad is exactly who they will keep airing. Unfortunately, that kind of junk gets ratings these days. Its too bad, ESPN USED to be about actual sports news - but those days are long gone.

A brief explanation of patronyms and their evolution into surnames. ... O' is Irish; Mac is usually Scottish; Mc can be either.

(from dgmweb.net/Ancillary/OnE/Patronymics.shtml ) - this is not a link.

A proud MacDonald made that clear to me when I asked if he was Irish.

Other than the mock NFL draft, I've never heard of the Todd guy. Rest at ease buddy. I think he is from a Highlander tribe.

It goes deeper than just Irish and Scottish. O' means son of and Mac means grandson of or vica versa in Gaelic or Celtic. I don't remember exact details other than the son of and grandson of. I'm also recalling MacBeth so it may have been while studying that I was informed of this.

Kiper even went so far as to say Golden Tate said that he never had to adjust to a Clausen pass. McShay countered, "I don't care what Tate says," as if opinion of one of Clausen's receivers didn't mean jack.

Just like ShamrockOnHelmet said, the only reason McShay has a job is because he gets people talking, plus once Kiper leaves for good they'll have their younger draft analyst to take his place as "the man". NFL Network's Mike Mayock isn't that great either.

hahahaha....thats funny.

From the start the HairDomer never seemed to like McShay. The first time I ever saw them together on the air, Kiper didnt cut him any slack. Kiper would say things like, "..I noticed you changed your top 5 for the draft, you did that after seeing my list, right?" he said this live on the air, and it wasnt trying to be funny, or joking around, he was puttin' the wood to McShay live on the air. As previous reported, McShay couldnt retort in an intelligent way.

It was entertaning to a point, I got the feeling that Kiper saw this guy as a threat to his position and was exposing him for being a moron. at the time, I thought it was 'sour grapes' from the old guy. But now, I think Kiper saw from the start that this guy is a yahoo. Not only does Kiper know his draft stuff, he also very early on, pegged McShay as not offering any insight or new information.

btw: Tate saying that he never had to adjust to a clausen pass, gives you insight into the type of skillset clausen has. deadly, laser-accurate, consistant

at the 3min mark they debate Clausen...a good exchange, I think this shows Kiper as knowledgable, and McShay as offering his opinions.

Kiper has him going 4th to WSH. McShay has him going 9th to BUF. McShay in the clip says that Clausen is #36 on his draft board. he has 35 players ranked above him!

McShay: "....for a quarterback that could very easily become another bust from Notre Dame?"

I know that there have been some guys that had great potential come out of ND and not do much in the pros. But, really, how many guys can you say were actually "busts", in the NFL?

Well it's stupid anyway. You see fans say, "Look at all the busts from Notre Dame, I don't want Clausen." So apparently teams need to be looking to draft John Crompton from Tennessee. I mean, look at Peyton Manning.

Are they? They're only the cutting edge, driving force in reporting sporting news in the world.... but I'm sure there's some merit to your statement. They're only irrelevant because you don't like what they're saying. Do I like it? no Do I care for it? no Do I watch it? Not unless ND is on or being reported on...just like you. Why do you think they do that? RATINGS!!!!

No disputing that what you say fits the ESPN modus operandi, but if it becomes widely known that no one in the NFL respects McShay, then ESPN may have no choice to pull the plug on him. Hell, they booted Irvin and Reynolds.

I'm not trying to say that you are advocating this point of view, but again..........WHAT busts?
