I don’t get upset when my F-150 doesn’t perform like a Ferrari. This is the problem with most fans. Expectations don’t line up with reality.
I'd be upset if I was expecting a Ferrari and pickup showed up at my door. Isn't that what the beat was promising us all offseason? A Ferrari? Hell, at this point I'd have taken the F-150. We got an Accord on defense and a Yugo on offense.

This team is playing basically a second string o line and Leonard isn't as good as hoped if Leonard was what we thought this team is much different

Yup. New high dollar QB, highest paid OC in football that coached the Heisman winner last season, and “improved” receivers. That should lead to a pretty potent offense.

Instead, they’re running QB power on 4th & 2 when there’s 11 defenders in the box.

I just thought we’d be further along by now.

In June/July, I thought this team had semi final potential. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I agree with the this. We’ve made some improvements and some steps back. Basically a wash. This team / program isn’t any better or worse than Kelly’s teams in my opinion.

Freeman is better in big games for sure. I’m holding hope that Freeman gets better as he gets more experience. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like he’s learned from his mistakes yet.

People love to bring up Freeman’s losses to NIU, Marshall, etc. BK lost to Tulsa, USF, and Navy (multiple times).

I don’t disagree with expecting better, but the gap between us and the top 5 is going to be wide for a long time.
Our OL was already questionable even before Jagusah went down.
Even if our receiving corp took a step toward, it wasn’t going to be a big step.
As much as I love my neighbor that hasn’t had the pleasure of meeting me yet, his first head coaching job is one of the most difficult jobs in all of college football.

Of the other two years we made playoffs, this year I don't even care because I've seen too many contenders and know what they look like. This team isn't close and its not just the offense. They have no shot.

Watching Georgia/Bama, you almost have to detach yourself from the fact they play the same sport. They look like gladiators on a mission compared to ND.

I watched the 1st quarter in the Joyce lot with a bunch of people I never met. The live takes were even more entertaining.
“Freeman should just go ahead and start Derek Carr’s son”
“Why do we always end up with the slowest black kids”
“The steroids Freeman takes are affecting his offensive play calling”

This is a broad generalization so chill out some of you, but even as an alum, we need more “subway alum” and fans at the tailgates and stadium than alums. Our alums largely don’t understand the game of football, are too passive and reserved, bring no energy, and make as much noise as a church mouse.

I want more O’Briens, Nowaks and Kowalskis from South Bend and Gary that have been grossly over served at the Backer in the stadium than Steve and Cheryl from LA or Seattle sipping their white wine before the game in their ND Peter Millar cardigans.

Why can’t they just throw jump balls to Greathouse and Collins? I’m not asking for an Andy Reid offense. But running Leonard/Love into a loaded box 30 times a game is not a recipe for success.

I’m too fat to fit into a Ferrari.
I expected a good season, 10 maybe 11 wins if some things break our way. This is a flawed program. It’s that simple. And a lot of it is out of the control of Marcus.

Cause I’d argue that the receiver hype was more inflated than the hype on Leonard.

Get through this year with Leonard, if he get's us W's- take it, he is holding our offense back, and this is the highest Leonard's ceiling will get.

For 2025 I think it should be a competition between Angeli and Carr, I think Minchey will transfer, and definitely stay out of the portal for a QB

Yesterday's postgame talked about having a transfer QB like Leonard that they have little time to create chemistry with the WR's. I agree with this, even Hartman said before last season started that he had trouble finding a #1 WR.

Some QB transfer's have worked out like Ward at Miami, Hartman didn't work out because of Parker, and the Leonard-Denbrock experiment has fell short of expectations so far.

It's a dumb take Kentucky hung with Georgia with a quarterback about as limited as ours. The portal has evened things out across the board for the most part. Teams don't have the crazy depth they used to, guys aren't going to sit and wait anymore they are going to go to a different team and get snaps.
And yet we have more depth than I can ever remember. It's a big reason why we won that game yesterday against a team full of guys who transferred so they could get snaps.

Offensively we should be fine next year I’m worried about the defense but guys like Bothelo, Thomas, Bryce, and Traore should be a good foundation we need some of these young DT’s to step up or go get 1-2 beefy DT guys

The Mills/Cross combo has been quiet this year so far, I think if ND goes after 1-2 DT's in the portal that will fill a need. Freeman has done a good job of getting younger guys PT on the defensive side of the ball. I still like ND's chances with Faraimo and NOB.

I don't have a lot of faith in Onye and Hinish. The recruiting misses are gonna really show up next year unless we get a couple transfers

Gabe Rubio is supposed to be back this season right? I wouldn't count on much from him this year given how much time he's missed, but he could be a major contributor inside in '25.

they are gonna have to go portaling for DL depth and another safety and corner take the money for a QB roll with Minchey or Carr and invest 2 million in DL/DE and Safety and corner
I really hope we are tampering with defensive tackles and safeties right now. Same thing with the Stanford WR.

Yeah someone else on this board said we should have a good shot at the Stanford WR. We honestly need to bring in at least one stud. We lose Colzie, Collins, Kris’s, and Harrison and Thomas might bounce too. That leaves Greathouse, Faison, KK Smith, Williams, Gilbert, not counting if someone else bounces that’s pretty thin. I wouldn’t county on any Freshman coming in ready to play.

If Ayomanor enters the portal that's what ND would need to go after. Plus having a good relationship with him during the recruiting process should help.
