I just got the new Lindy's CFA preview and they got us at #36. Brutal. I know there is questions on both sides of the ball but I am sorry yes we are better that South Florida (26)and Missouri (28). They are not picking us to get into the BCS (SURPRISE!!!)

But anyway...

They have John Carlson being picked in the second round of next years NFL draft. (No Tommy?) John Carlson is also a second team Lindy All-American on offense. He is the only Notre Damer on the offensive list. Tommy Z is on the second team Lindy All-American on defense and he is the only Irishman on the defensive list.

According to Lindy's we also have the 8th best recruiting class coming in with Clausen being the number one prospect overall.

Unfortunately I think at this point we are not a top 25 because of all the questions. I think by years end we will be in the top 25. We have talent, but not the experience. I think we will win between 6-9 games.

South Florida is going to be very good this year just nobody here knows anything about them enough to make a rational statement about them. I think 36 is harsh, but right around where we deserve to start. Wisconsin started that low last year and they turned out fine didn't they. Preseason rankings don't mean sh*t right now anyway. Our entire team is unproven underclassmen what do you expect? I wouldn't rank us in the top 25 we lost our whole team except Laws, Zib, Carlson and Sull basically. I don't think we're getting short changed at all. This is the year we deserve to get no respect going into the season. LSU being #2 puzzles me because they lost Russel and 3 of their WR's and Landry. If you're really going to complain about us being ranked so low then you're just being biased big time because we have almost zero experience returning from a 9-3 team.

I see your point, just irritated. By the end of the year we should be rolling.

I have my doubts on USF due to the fact they have been inconsistant over the years. They'll beat Louisville then lose to UConn. We'll see, it is too early really to tell.

As for the top ten, I am surprised OU is there with the QB situation...

IK- Good points, the less people think of ND this year, the better for us, because then we can have a lot more fun with the jackrags of the world if ND wins 9-10 games this year. Of course that will never change the hatas because the more ND wins, the more they hate & whine. Just to give our 2006 team their proper due though, which win from last year did you take away, last time I looked the Irish won 10 games last year.

I'm not upset at the ranking because unlike most years we don't have a lot of expectations from the media and we will be able to climb up in the rankings pretty quickly. I think if we win our opener we'll crack the top25 and then climb from there. I'd rather be an underdog and come out and impress people then be over-rated and everyone talkin trash.

How will LSU win without Jamarcus Russell? Losing a "franchise greatest QB ever with a 80 yard spiral from his knees" is big. I will be watching for USC, UF, and OSU to lose. With UM close behind. LSU is just behind that.

Two all-americans at TE in Rucker and Coffman, one of the most under-rated QB's in the country, a running back who rushed for over 200 yards vs. Oregon State in their bowl game, and a set of receivers that ND wish they had. I will go on record as saying that Missouri will have a better record than ND next year.

Look, I know Oregon State is not LSU but if my memory serves me correct, didn't ND get our arses handed to us by a much better team in LSU in a match that was completely overrated?

I know that this is an ND forum and I am a bigger ND fan that Mizzou but, saying that ND is going to be better than Mizzou (with ND's inexperience and tough schedule) is just flat out rediculous. And you can bash me for not going to ND and not knowing what the tradition is about, but I grew up an ND fan. I would have loved to have gone to ND but unfortunately, I am stupid and don't have enough money.

However, what I do know is that you can't make assumptions about a team that you dont even know about. Everyone on here knows all about ND. But can anyone tell me a lick about South Florida or Mizzou?

All I can say about Lindy's and other pre-season rankings is that it's not where you start, it's where you finish. We'll know plenty after the first five games of this season. Gotta take'm one at a time. Georgia Tech is first up and should be our only concern.
