FYI, "Knute Rockne, All American" is on TCM right now started at 5:15 CST. If you've never watched before it's an oldie but a goodie.

I'm watching it for the first time right now. Enjoying it for the ND nostalgia, but man is it cheesy.

Watching for the first time as well. Love the nostalgia and the great President Reagan playing the Gipper. But you are right, movies from this era were so cheesy. It's a much watch for any ND fan.

I remember watching this my freshman year at the Knights of Columbus during orientation. It may have been part of a run-up to the first home football game, though. I think beer was involved.

The atmosphere was a bit like a fraternity rush. It was less hushed reverence and more wise-*** irreverence – it was 1970, after all. I think that there were calls to "put in the chimp" and "win one for the Bonzo!"

All in all, though, it was a good "mixer" for frosh from different dorms.

No beer. It was part of my freshman orientation in 1954.
Sounds about right. The beer was unofficial, of course. And in no way provided by or sanctioned by the K of C.

While I may have injected subtly politics into this thread, I dispute the characterization of Reagan as a "great" President.

In an instance of humorous juxtaposition, I just watched The Marx Brothers' "Horse Feathers."

Give it a go.

I watched a little bit of it-past history but still good. Best part was when he addresses Congress. Could use a little of that today. The guy must have been a stud. He and Babe Ruth/Lou Gehrig are my all time heroes.
