I know some of this has been discussed in other threads (Recruit Profiles, Who is Likely Next, etc.), but wanted to kind of exclusively discuss these stud recruits who seem to have some legitimate interest in attending school in South Bend. If ND could only take one, who would you choose? We all know these guys are potential game-changers on the field, and even off the field as it pertains to other recruits hopping on board and aiding in notoriety and publicity.

I'd go with this:
-Kiel-- Not a lot to say here. He's the top QB in this cycle. I see no downside to having him. Besides, I don't think this is a Weis-passing-on-Mustain-to-get-Clausen-next-year-type-of-thing anyway.

-Agholor-- Who are the playmakers at WR next year? I'm beginning to believe Theo will never be what we hoped he'd be. There are questions in my mind about Daniels being a true difference-maker. The other incoming WR's next year, as much as we may like them, are total unknowns (as is Agholor), but playing the odds, it would seem like 1 or 2 (at least) would have to be a hit...if not a home run. I think Nelson has the potential to be a difference-maker on the outside, in the slot, in the backfield, in the secondary, or on special teams.

-Armstead (if ND is truly a legit landing spot)-- He is truly a coveted recruit across the nation. He has prototypical size for ND's defense. He is a great athlete (he's wanted as a DE, DT, OT, and is a great B-ball player). We now continually get a clinic each year in college football as to how important DL truly are...and he's one of the best

-Marshall-- I rank him down here not as an indictment on Marshall's ability or potential, but rather, where ND currently stands at RB for next year. Wood will be a proven, legitimate guy next year. Cam R. will be in his 3rd year at ND and 1 1/2 years removed from his injury. I think, at worst, he could be a guy you could put in there and not get you killed by having him in there. At best, he could be a genuine pony. I'll go somewhere in the middle though and say he will be able to contribute 6-8 snaps (snaps, not necessarily carries) a game. GAIII seems like he could be a game-changer next year, but on a limited basis. Could he tote the rock 24 times a game over a 7,10, 12 game stretch? I'll say no, but I think he could do it for a game or two if the need arises. I think he could safely get ~10 carries a game. Cam M. I think could be like Cam R., but without a potential big upside. Next year, I think Cam M. will be able to contribute 6-8 snaps a game (again that's snaps, not necessarily carries). Will Mahone will be there too. I hope he redshirts or is able to be brought along slowly. Besides, if ND gets down to relying on it's 4th, 5th string RB, there are going to be some major problems that probably can't be overcome anyway. And I think there's a good possibility ND can land a stud RB in '13.

Obviously would love to see them all in SB, but if I had one choice it would be Agholor. I love his versatility. I think he's the play maker we have been looking for in recent years.

You take the quarterback.

I obviously agree with this sentiment somewhat since I ranked Kiel #1...but it does make me wonder, in a chicken-or-the-egg kind of way, if ND had, say, Greenbury, Agholor, and Neal on the team-- wouldn't they make Hendrix or Golson look pretty d@mn good?

We'll obviously never know how good Jerry Rice or Joe Montana and Steve Young would be without the other(s), but there are still limitations as to how far a QB can ultimately take you.

BTW- I think the answer to any Rice, Montana, and Young question is that they were ALL total badazz players...hall of famers regardless of who they had around them!

Kelly can't recruit at this level, why waste your time on these pipe dreams?

You take Kiel, BK needs a QB to run his O, I've see talk about how sweet our O would have been this year or last if we had JC or BQ, I see Kiel as having that type of impact. Golson may be able to fill in that space but you don't pass up on this kind of player, JMO.

But is he as even-kieled as Tommy Rees?

You get them all.

No, but I do think we land 2 of the named players.

Kiel. Things could be different if we had more consistency out of the QB spot.

Agholor would be next because Floyd is leaving and we could use as many different playmakers as possible. Not saying we don't have any, just saying the more, the better.
