I get where FSU fans are pissed. I would be too. FSU’s best win came against the team that finished 3rd in the SEC West. Bama beat that team, the team that finished 2nd in the division, and beat the #1 team in the CFP poll in Georgia. FSU beat who? Louisville? Yeah ok.
Louisville would probably give Bama more fits than you think.

And why are we ranking teams in the weeks prior to the final poll if only that poll matters? FSU was dropped from the top four after winning against a top 15 team.

I am super glad that Alabama is in instead of FSU. It would have been disgusting if Michigan would have lucked out like always and played an offensively inept FSU in the playoffs. I hope UM gets beat by 50 and they can take their poor victims act for being horrible cheaters all the way back to Ann Arbor. So glad UM gets to play a team with a pulse. Georgia would probably beat Texas, but results have to matter some. I think the committee got it right.

The SEC was 7-9 against P5 conferences this year. There is no magic bylaw that gives the SEC priority over the other P5 conferences. If the roles were reversed and Alabama lost Milroe three weeks ago and limped to an SEC championship and FSU was 12-1 with a definitive loss at home to LSU earlier in the season, there is absolutely zero chance the playoff committee would put in FSU over Alabama. Hell, why even play the playoff games, just let Vegas pick the champion. Why even play the games. I absolutely think Alabama is a better team than Georgia, but the committee's rankings make zero sense. If you're ranking based on who you think is better and you think Bama is better than FSU, then why the fuck is FSU at 5 above UGA? Part of me is excited for sure that I think Bama will demolish Michigan, but I think impartially FSU should be in. It's such a sham.

You wouldn’t bet one nickel on FSU beating Bama today.

This is just a stupid argument.

Best 4 teams.

Sorry.
Would you have bet on TCU beating at this time Bama last year? Was Bama not one of the best four teams?

Louisville? OK. Now it seems you’re reaching a bit.

Finebaum says this season is the best coaching performance of Saban's career. I think he's probably right. Everybody counted us out in September (and for good reason), declared the dynasty over, and said Kirby had dethroned him, and yet he somehow got us to here.
I am inclined to agree, doesn’t mean y’all deserve to be in the playoffs.

I can’t deny I too love the idea of hearing yet again how Michigan has yet to win a playoff game (though someone can say the same about us), but I’m not sure Bama is as good as some make them out to be.

The true purpose of the committee is to crown a consensus national champion. There is absolutely no way they can achieve that this year by leaving out an undefeated P5 school. They probably did select the 4 best teams given their current play and situations, but FSU deserved the opportunity to compete given no one beat them to this point. This happening on the final year of 4 teams is perfect really, because the committee can point to next year this can't happen.

This is about money as pretty much everything in college football is at this point. TV ratings and probably more important those betting dollars.

Bottom line for me is Bama would beat FSU today by 10 even with Jordan Travis playing. Why should Michigan get a first round bye. Fuck Michigan, and fuck FSU. UGA should be salty, they'd go 3-1 against those top 4....in back to back to back days.

But actually, I agree, it’s a dumb argument because the committee all but said it’s based on their projections of what the injury does and not what FSU did over the course of the season. If their qb isn’t hurt they’re in beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Liberty went 13-0! They should be in!!
I think that's a disingenuous argument against FSU's case. The playoff committee has elevated the Power 5 Conferences to mean more than the G5 conferences. There is nothing that lists the SEC above the other P5 conferences. This sort of shit of perpetually favoriting the SEC because "It just means more" bullshit only goes to further entrench the SEC's grip over the sport.

They got it right. I'm with some other posters wondering how UW wasn't #1. (personally I'm glad the committee botched it because now Michigan is more likely to lose).

Are they supposed to pick the four best teams as it stands today? Or should they pick the four that won the most games and became conference champion?

All of you that wanted FSU, please tell me you expect them to win or be really competitive against Georgia? We should definitely track it, I think everyone should be willing to admit if FSU beats Georgia or even plays within a FG, they will have proved they should've been in 100%

If I were an FSU fan, I'd be pissed. But I still believe we're going to see this thing play out and everyone will believe the committee got it right this time.

Can someone start a poll? Because I agree, FSU isn't close to being on the same playing field as Bama and Georgia. Anyone who watched those games yesterday would come away with the same thought. Otherwise, vote on it and lets see it play out.

Sure, you could look at that on the eye test but you still need to play the games! Everybody was ready to crown Oregon as being in for the PAC12 but Washington beat them as an underdog both times despite "not passing the eye test" against Oregon leading up to the games.

In non-conference games this year the SEC's best win was Louisville. The team that just lost to an FSU team lead by their 3rd string QB. The SOS is propped up by the fact that it is SEC all the time deserving or undeserving.

Would you argue that Bama should have been in last year? Lost by four combined points to Tennessee and LSU.

I don’t have a problem with what you’re saying, but isn’t 1 game too small of a sample size to base it on? Just more of a constructive critique.

The minute that they were going to put Alabama in, it meant that Florida State was out. It's a much harder explanation to put in Alabama over Texas when Texas beat them head to head in Tuscaloosa. Florida State's SOS is not great, and without Travis, their offense is not CFP quality. I think the committee ultimately got it right, despite the pearl clutching.

If you really hate Michigan then you should want Bama in over FSU.
This would be the same Michigan that knows Tommy Rees?
Whats Tommy's record against Michigan as a player and coach?

Fuck the won't even need to cheat, they probably know him as well as he knows himself.

UGA, Oregon, OSU, Mizzu and PSU would all beat a healthy FSU team. Committee got it right.

I have to disagree on Louisville. They themselves are super overrated.

After they beat ND. They lost to a shit Pitt team by 17. They barely beat another terrible UVA team. Struggled with Miami. And then ultimately lost to a very average Kentucky team.

Transitive property of sports and all but that’s a trend of not very good football.

And you actually thought he was gonna say something different? All that old bastard does is suck off the SEC and for ESPN and that’s it. if it’s not in the SEC they ain’t worth a fuck. He is the biggest homer of them all.

A one loss SEC champion is an auto bid.
Especially after they beat a two time defending national champion.
Imo, Georgia should be in too.

But Tommy isn’t just running Tommy’s offense. That’s not how it works at Bama.
