I tend to agree. Why? Because the American people could not, and cannot fathom that a lone gunman could act alone and single-handedly kill their president, hence all the conspiracy theories.

I somewhat agree with that, but its not as if people are just making things up about the case. Their are multiple points in that genuinely make you jump to conclusions. Its a strange strange case that's for sure

I believe that this assassination was so traumatic on the US as a whole that people wanted more. They couldn't accept something as simple as a head case idiot shot one of the most beloved presidents in history. They wanted more, so when things came out about Oswald defecting to Russia, Rubys very slight connection to the mob etc. things started spinning and these elaborate conspiracies evolved. I'm in no way insisting that I'm right and the conspiracy theorist are wrong....just my opinion. I actually like reading them.

Like the House Select Committee Findings in 79 that concluded there was a "likely conspiracy",... and that shots were indeed fired from the grassy knoll… you mean investigations like that???

I was in the first grade, will never forget the "earth just moved" feeling. Suddenly things didn't seem so solid, predictable anymore. Even as a six year old I knew the world had changed in some manner.

I don't know about a conspiracy other than I believe Oswald did not act alone. To me, I have never heard an explanation of the Zapruder film that made sense. The force of a high powered bullet is going to knock the target in the direction of the force. Clearly Kennedy's head is forced backward with the fatal shot. Grassy knoll? Don't know but I believe the shot cam from in front of the limousine. Take a look:

read some things on this when I was in college and there were multiple studies conducted using mellons to simulate a head shot, and researchers fired rifles at the mellons and consistently they moved toward the shot upon impact. Apparently, they found that the gushing of the innards of the mellon exiting through the larger "exit wound" created more force or thrust if you will than the original piercing of the bullet through a realatively small surface area. It seems counterintuitive, but that is what the study said. At least that is how I remember it. Wish I could remember the source, but I havn't been in college more than 2 decades.

Every time Discovery or Popular Science does their annual 're-creation' they find the same thing. (Doesn't sound counterintuitive to me. I mean, that's how a space shuttle works.)

have you tried it...I'm being serious. I cannot fathom that....but would likely entertain this theory if someone, on their own accord duplicated this.

Too many shots out of too many weapons from all kinds of crazy angles shooting at all kinds of crazy things...and I have never, ever seen something accept a round and recoil into the point of contact.

I was wondering if someone was going to post anything about JFK related this week.

My area of study and interest has always been presidential politics. Heck, I read the Warren Commission & Kerner Commission for fun. John F. Kennedy was a special President and paved the way for the modern presidency that we have today. In my humble opinion it was Lee Harvey Oswald. This thread could get easily go on and on with strong opinions on the matter especially with the controversy around it, so I will just leave it at that. There are some excellent books and specials for viewing. Killing Kennedy that aired on National Geographic Channel was excellent. CNN also had a great special done the other nite done by Tom Hanks. If you want to read a fantastic book and have some money check out, Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy by Vincent Bugliosi. I believe the Oliver Stone movie is CRAP.


My wife and I visited my younger brother in Dallas for Christmas 2 years ago. The ONE thing I wanted to do more than anything was to go to Texas School Book Depository and the 6th floor museum. When I got off the elevator I had this strange feeling that's hard to describe. We were there for a few hours just to try and take everything in. I finally came on the corner window that's preserved behind glass. It was a surreal experience. Looking out the window for viewing to the right you can see white Xs that the FBI put down on the street where the shots hit JFK. but more than anything I kept going back to that window and looking how close his motorcade was to the overpass and how he was seconds from being safe. Seconds.

It was a surreal experience for me for my political interest and John F. Kennedy was the countries only Catholic president. It was emotional to say the least. I went down to the street and stood on the final X which was the final bullet and said a Hail Mary and Our Father.

If your ever in Dallas I highly recommend going.

I was there, a couple of months ago, and took the trolley tour. It was pretty impressive, and very informative. The trolley follows the path that the motorcade took, then the path that Oswald took, between the Book Depository, his rooming house, and the theater. It was well worth the $20 that it cost, for the 60 minute tour.

Funny how many interesting databases like this there are out there... this one leans toward LHO not acting alone but still provides a lot of good info... I linked it to the section on eyewitnesses who believed something came from the grassy knoll... but there is more info than just that...
