Nice...I am really happy to see Weis go this route. The best way to get this kid acclimated with all things ND (pressure, the spotlight, the criticism, the praise, the doubters, the haters and the lovers). Now is Jimmy's time to shine, lets see what you got kid.

I think Weis has realized that this will be without a doubt a rebuilding year, even if he won't use that term, and the best way to rebuild is to put your QB of the future in there to take his lumps. It will do this kid no good to protect him and from what we saw saturday, he looks like he can handle it. His jog into the huddle and composure and poise in the pocket was very reassuring. Just look at DD's happy feet compared to Jimmy's plant and throw. Jimmy is a QB and will lead this team to the promised land!!

Weis just said that Clausen was the leader coming out of the spring but it was the surgery that set him back as he wasn't ready when fall camp started and was a distant 3rd. He apparently only became completely healthy at the end of last week.

It's no doubt that ESPN will use Clausen as a huge selling point since the game will be televised by ESPN. I'm not sure what to think of this. He'll get tons of attention because, let's just face it, we should all expect it. I just hope they don't go overboard on forgetting about everyone else on the field.

As a slight aside, has anyone been able to find the 4th quarter highlights from the Georgia Tech game on the ND All-Access player? The other 3 quarters are already up there. I was interested in just watching how Clausen did in the few series that he was in since he'll be the starter.

This is good on so many levels - recruiting, rebuilding, reloading......

Pretty much everyone agrees that Clausen is the future at QB (as does Charlie, and it's alway so nice once he finally listens to us, haha). Let the guy play with the other young starters like Allen, Young, and Kamara. Even if he is the only guy in there for the whole game he can start to mesh with the players around him.

Is he the best player to put in there for the next game? If CW thinks he is, it's good enough for me. While I don't think he "talks a big game" (especially since everyone says he is more of a quiet guy) maybe he can bring some confidence to the huddle the was lacking before.

If he can take the lumps of this season and still come out healthy and a leader then he looks to be something really special. And hey he never lost a game in high school..... so lets see him extend that streak to 43, haha.

'Scuse me I didn't mean to include Kamara in there as a starter - eventually but not just yet.

Good... GREAT! The team has a leader now, and we will take the lumps that comes with it. I thought he was making smart throws and I think he will do well. Penn State better watch out, because this team isnt laying down.

Although Sharpley threw the ball well he held on to it too long. Clausen has that MAriona like quick release which she eliminate some sacks.

I can't wait to see what he can do with a full game. Now we just need to make sure he isn't blitzed to death again! The other part I like is that Weis said he was pretty much the #1 from day one (besides the injury). Its good to know he was cleary better even as a frosh.

I'm excited for Clausen to start this weekend. I can understand what Weis wanted to do with Jones, because he is a bit more mobile than the other 2, but I think that they should stick with the pro style offense. Quinn did very well with it, and it's what Weis knows best coming from New England. Clausen should be a great fit into that style of offense if Weis runs it this weekend.

I
just hope the line gives him some time so he doesn't get killed out there.

Yup, JC starting doesn't clear up the O Line Problems. But I'm alot happier with him starting so the Irish can gear up for the future.
