I have plenty of friends who didn't even think about going to Notre Dame who are those things.I would go with someone who has those characteristics but wants a small-school environment, religious surroundings, and perhaps wants to experience the balance of top notch academics and athletics. But there's probably even more to it than that.

I was just talking about personality, not preference in school. Just the type of kid that would fit in at Notre Dame. ie. Notre Dame type of kid.

I hear what you're saying though.

I totally get how it could. But doesn't mean that it isn't an accurate potrayal of the type of student athlete that succeeds at a school like Notre Dame. The fact is that this is a school in northern Indiana that forces their student athletes to live in the dorms with regular students, attend classes (very challenging classes at that), be challenged on many intellectual levels and interact with priests.

So if you are a kid that is "Respectful, hard working, intelligent and with a focused on education.... then, well... you might be a Notre Dame kind of kid.

It's not arrogant... it's common sense.

It's not meant that way at all. There are certain traits a college student needs to have to be successful at a place like ND. That's not arrogance, it's fact. A kid who doesn't care about school and only wants to get to the league is not going to be successful at ND. There are plenty of schools that cater to those types of kids. At ND you have to take real classes and make decent grades in those classes and ND doesn't let it slide if you can't keep up. You don't hear about starting QB's at most other major D1 schools getting suspended for academics. Maybe for other things but not usually grades. And you can't really be a prima donna who thinks your shit don't stink at ND because you live in the dorms with regular students and that kind of attitude doesn't fit in at a place like ND. Coach Kelly has commented on it numerous times and he is exactly right. ND is different and it makes it harder to recruit certain types of players because of that.
