There is no doubt that excellent educations can be had at all the SEC institutions. Unfortunately, for their scholarship f'ball players, there's a huge dropoff. Check out the study out of Boston College that listed the graduation rates & then broke them down by race. The rates for some, not all, of these schools in graduating their African-American student-athletes (oxymoron) is atrocious.
And I believe every school but Vandy has been on probation at least once (not sure about Georgia). And I'm not talking slap on the wrists. Florida in the '80s under Galen Hall was banned from TV, Tennessee...do you really have to ask?, Kentucky under Hal Mumme suffered violations & are just now recovering, Arkansas lost scholarships from infractions in the late '90s similar to what happened w/ rhett Bomar @ OU, Auburn under Pat Dye was forbidden from postseason play which cost them a shot at the National Championship in '93 under Bowden, South Carolina had their steroid scandal in the late 80s under the late Joe Morriss, Alabama...let me count the ways-- the latest sanctions coming from the illegal recruitment of the O-lineman from Memphis (forgot his name), Jackie Sherrill left MSU in shambles (just like everywhere else he's been), Ole Miss got sanctioned under Billy Brewer before Tuberville started the turnaround.
But as someone referenced in "The Rock Report" earlier, Ohio State & others should be ashamed of their graduation rates as well. As the author stated, the OSU program is more like an NFL mini-camp.
