WOW!!! This is terrible news. I really enjoyed Mike and his viewpoints from a fellow NW Ohio boy. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Hoping he enjoys the 2023 season from the best seat in any house

This really bums me out. I followed Clashmore_Mike from jjhuddle.com to Ohiochatter.com back in 2009ish. I would post ND scoops on the ND threads there and he eventually asked where I kept getting info, next thing you know we were both frequent IE posters and he eventually co-owned the place.

I'm an infrequent poster but always here during the season. Sorry to learn this as I am checking in today.
May the Angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs greet you at your arrival and lead you into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

What a wonderful tribute to an incredible person.

Mike was a good friend of mine. I'm not surprised at all to see that many people who knew Mike online, many whom had never met him in person, still feel his loss. He was truly an amazing person that positively impacted so many lives including mine. I can tell you that he was extremely proud of Irish Envy and was grateful to be a part of something so special for those who shared his love for Notre Dame. Today was a bittersweet day. I'm always giddy once football season arrives, but today certainly wasn't the same without Mike. I absolutely know he was watching the Irish victory today though, and enjoying every single second of it.

In 2013, Mike took me to my very first Notre Dame game when the Irish hosted BYU. It was quite possibly the coldest I have ever been in my life, but it was still an amazing experience because of Mike. Our group of friends would continue to go to a Notre Dame game each year up until last season when Mike started his battle with cancer. We traveled from near and far to reconnect since we didn't get to see each other regularly as life and our careers took us in different directions and to various locations. Every time we would arrive in South Bend, Mike just lit up with excitement. He truly loved walking around campus, checking out all the main landmarks each and every time, and showing us a good time as we tailgated prior to the game. Notre Dame is a special place, and Mike always took pride in showing that to us. Those trips are some of my fondest memories in my entire life and I have Mike to thank for that.

Mike is going to be dearly missed by so many people, but he also has left a lasting impression on many of us that will continue on for many years to come. I am so grateful that he was part of my life, and very lucky to have had him as a friend. Go Irish! 🍀

While I never met Mike in person, I believe his character showed through in the interactions that we did have. He was kind, hard-working, and compassionate. He helped carry the burdens of others but made sure to never be a burden himself, even through his quiet battle. Until I learned of the passing of Mike, I am not sure that I had ever cried about someone I had never met. That was the kind of positive impact he had amongst his friends here, and I am sure on the rest of the people in his life.

Going forward, I know this place won't ever be the exact same, and the rest of us owners and moderators will have very big shoes to fill in the wake of Mike leaving. But though he has left, I am positive he is not gone. Don't believe for one second he won't be on the edge of his seat, the best one in the world, watching and cheering on his beloved Irish take on the Midshipmen today.

So I ask that before kickoff, you raise a glass for Mike. To our beloved teammate and friend, may he rest in peace.

Damn. RIP. Mike always seemed like a great guy. One of those cornerstone of the site type posters. Our boys put on a show for him today.

You were fortunate to have such a good friend and sorry for your loss. I too was at the BYU game. Cold? Yes it was. Didn’t need to buy ice for the tailgate.

I just saw this. F*** cancer!
Mike was tremendous in his work on the new site. I remember him going above and beyond helping test new functionality with me and making sure everything looked great. He was always really helpful with issues that cropped up. He was probably helping a lot of us and helping run the new site while fighting that battle the whole time. RIP to one of the greats, thanks for everything that you did, Mike! Thoughts and prayers to his family at this time.

Definitely sucks, too many taken too soon. I’ve said it before and I’m gonna say it again that I’d be willing to donate a portion of my salary to cancer treatment, and research. I don’t make a killing but it’s gotta help. I just don’t know where it would be best suited and used. Any suggestions?
