My take is that he has been confirmed through due process to be an illegal immigrant but he had a (in my opinion bogus) withholding of removal order. The administration should have sought judicial relief by getting that withholding of removal order lifted before deporting him. They should bring him back to Louisiana and hold him there until they get it legally settled. But given the information coming out about him today and his previous encounters with the legal system, I’m not losing sleep over it.

There was an existing order saying he was not to be deported before the accident even happened.

If we all agree it was an "accident," then the government has a responsibility to fix said "accident" and comply not only with the original order but also current orders demanding he be brought back.

We've brought back prisoners from other countries for laws they actually broke overseas, let alone this situation.
