I don't remember who posted in here about being offended with terms such as redneck or hillbilly. But, watching one of the Disney Cars movies with my son this last week (actually unfortunately we was one of the 2 movies 10+ times a week) I noticed that McQueen actually says one of those terms in the movie. I can understand someone being offended by the word, but why the hell would someone put a word possibly offensive in a kids movie.

*I respect that your offended and in no way am I laughing at that

It was more than one person, and included me. The remarks were in regards to being ignorant, uneducated bigots... which were all insinuated by the term "redneck". Many guys that hunt, fish, etc will joke around calling eachother rednecks or hillbilies. So it wasn't the blanket use of it that was offensive. It was the fact it was being used as a description of someone that is bad person.

It's all in the use of the word. Don't believe a word can change connotation with it's use?... walk around south Chicago and wait to hear the "N Word" being used. Then (assuming you're caucasion) go up to that guy and use the "N Word" in a negative light. Even though they just used the word themselves, see how that goes for you...

disclaimer - before someone loses their shit and acts like I am comparing the severity of "hillbilly" to the "N word", i'm not insinuating that at all. Simply using an example that is very clear to everyone.

Nice try, you used redneck in the same post as the n-word so clearly that means you meant to compare the two and think they are equal.

I believe that Tomater (my nephews have watched the movies) is Larry the Cable Guy, so I think calling him a redneck would be accurate, BUT I do agree that using it in a KIDS movie is way out of line. Hate that I did not notice that.
