first of all i need to get this off my chest.

im not gonna lie this lost hurt bad but, nothing hurts more than going to my favorite forum and reading all this negativity. i used to go to the ESPN forums and DD. i came here because i loved the atmosphere and the us against the world attitude. i live in the heart of sooner nation norman, ok and go to school at ou. the feeling around the campus and the surrounding cities is awesome. BUT the feeling inside me is downright aweful. i cant imagine how the town and campus at SB feels right now. i want to be around my IRISH family and have support and thats not what im getting.

lets can CW?
if people on this forum are right with players and recruits read this forum, i feel ashamed for them to read some of the threads they are reading.

i read alot threads and people jumping off the bus and thats fine with me but im never thinking of doing that to OUR team. i believe in CW, coaches, and players that they will get better with time. i believe that going back to a training camp mentality will help our team find a niche. i believe CW did try to use X's and O's the first 3 games to help the team win but, i also saw the team not execute the plays to the best of their ability. i believe that DJ did what's best for DJ and you cant blame him for that. i believe sometimes you have to fail before you can succeed.

GO IRISH!!!

ND's gone through tough times before. What makes this any different? I, for one, will never give up on the Irish.

There's just a lot of vocal fair-weather fans who believe that somewhere out there is some sort of miracle coach that will win, no matter what the odds or who we're playing, what our team is like and how the previous coach did with recruiting.

Building a good team takes time, and in the future, we'll have better and better recruiting classes, better than Ty ever gave us, and we'll be a mainstay of the top 25 every year. However, CW is rebuilding our program from the bottom up, and that takes time. We need to stand by our team now when it's hardest, and give CW a few more years at LEAST before we can start commenting on his abilities.

GO IRISH, GO!!!

these are the type of fans i want to be apart of.

All I will say is that I am a lifelong Tarheel fan. I was born and raised in the Carolinas. Why am I saying this? A few years back the Tarheels went through a similar situation (i.e.- coaching change, suspect recruiting by departed coach, new coach won with previous coach's players, etc). I believe any college bball fan can remember a year where the Heels went 8-20, even losing some games by 40 pts. It happens. Does it make it less painful? Hell no. It's still painful as hell. This year is scrapped in my book. Just build a foundation for next year and try not to get embarrassed. Saturday was unbearable. It may get better and it may not. I'll still pull for them. However, as long as the offense looks the way it does I'll have to find something else to do on Saturdays. I am not one who is a glutton for punishment.

I'm with ya, here! I am emotionally spent on what happened Saturday. I just hope the guys on the team are more upset about it than we as fans are. Because, if not, it's going to get worse as the year goes along. I can't continue doing this to myself every Saturday. My family really can't take it much more. I'm unbearable when things are this bad.

With that said, I'm still cheering for them and always will. I still believe.

I think "I believe" is too strong a phrase, really. I think i've lost all faith in this team to actually perform well. However, that is not going to make me leave or waver in my passion for them. Just going to have to suck it up, pray that we're bowl eligible, and wait for next year. However, this year is totally lost.

Yes, enough is enough. We have all vented now, but it's time to get over it and pull ourselves up by our bootstraps as fans just like we expect our beloved Irish to do as players next Saturday, and the Saturday after that, etc. I sometimes get angry at my wife and say stupid things, but does that mean I love her any less? Hell no. And the same goes with my Irish (only perhaps to a slightly lesser degree...I mean, she puts up with all my nitwittery and has mothered 3 kids for me). If I didn't love them so much, I probably wouldn't get so emotional over it, and where would the fun be in that?

Love hurts, love scars,
Love wounds, and marks,
Any heart, not tough,
Or strong, enough
To take a lot of pain,
Take a lot of pain

It'll be worth it

I use to be that way but I cannot let a football team dictate how I feel all weekend anymore. The teams lack of heart made me so sick that I turned it off at halftime and went and played basketball with my 10 year old son for 2 hours. So, something good came from the loss. Looks like I found a way to spend second halfs of heartless Notre Dame games the rest of the season.

I guess you guys don't want to hear from a USC guy, born & raised Cardnial and Gold. I know suffering from yur team and I now once again know celebration. Despite our mutual dislike of one another, I must admit that having the Golden Domers scrapping the bottom of the barrel is not as much fun as I would have thought.

I like ND to be good (not better than USC) but better than other teams. I see a lot of potential in your upcoming recruting class, keep the faith and let's make the two little private schools the two best football programs in the nation. Of course USC being number one.

Very good post nice to see that other fans especially USC fans have a little spot in their heart for the Irish. We will prevail in the end and thanks for the positive notes! But the Irish fan in me has to disagree with you on the last statement! IRISH #1!! But right now I'd settle with #2 behind USC hell better yet, I'd settle for a touchdown!

As long as I can remember, I've been a ND football fan. I'll remain a ND football fan until I die. Yet, I'm a realist. There is no doubt about it ... ND is NOT very good this year! Not saying the Irish don't have talent (and relatively young at that), but from a TEAM standpoint .... they are playing atrocious! Our OL, whether it's the players mindset, play-making ability or the coaching, is the WORST I have ever witnessed from a top-level div. 1 team! Not saying that the final results of the first 3 games is ALL their fault, but the most blame has to fall on them. They are SCARY to watch! I hope our QB's have their life insurance policies paid up .... they're going to need it!

But you know what, I'm still an Irish football fan today and will be again tomorrow this Saturday ... hoping (or praying) for better results! Go Irish, kick ole Sparty's a$$!!!

Tell your sooner brethren congrats on a win against always powerful Utah St on Saturday...the least you can say about your team is that you schedule teams that have solid football programs, not that BS that Oklahoma pulls

oh thank goodness.....some real ND fans. I know times are tough....i feel the pain (and it hurts) but this is what being a fan is all about. we stick around through the good and bad. so i'm glad to know that there are real fans out there who are not walking away from this team. charlie & co. have a lot of work to do and we need to support our team.
