Our favorable opinion of our head coach has been devastating to our reputation on this site.

Kelly once again made a decision and stuck with it. He is not scared to go against the grain. He has learned a lot tonight for sure. He learned it because of the many years he has under the belt. I, my friend, love him too!

He might be passionate but he's a dumbass for not pulling Ress earlier in the season.

I don't think he expected Hendrix to do decent. Hell, read the board, majority said he wasn't good in first half either. Our line sucks bad tonight!!! BTW

Kelly never gave Hendrix a chance until he was forced to tonight. Rees was average at best, with a horrible turnover ratio, and he still stuck with him. Never quite understood that. You're right, the OL stunk today.

He should have put Hendrix before blah blah blah... All those things are real easy to say for us, we don't have to take the decision. I mean we now know that Hendrix can be the guy, but who really knew that for sure before. The bottom line is that Kelly needs to win every week at Notre Dame. Those are the expectations. It's much harder to take chances on an untested Quarterback in those conditions. Besides, it's not like he was loosing every games with Tommy.

Really enjoyed seeing Andrew perform. The kid has some game.

i think the opportunity presented itself at halftime, it was crystal clear and kelly made the switch. i am very excited to get this team healthy for a bowl game and to see how hendrix can grow in a short period of time.

Totally Agree....and I think Kelly is trying to build this program up his way. I think he is on the right track despite the setback tonight.

This was not a terrible loss tonight. The defense played very well with some tough breaks (ie. Motta slipping and giving up the last TD).

We got to see Hendrix come in and possibly surprise not only us but his coaches as well. If only we had more time I think the offense was really starting to move.

Everyone now knows how important Braxston Cave is to the OL. Golic played admirably but made some bad reads and penalties.

Kelly needs to let his balls swing low and hand the reigns to Hendy for the bowl game. We MUST destroy our opponent in that game for the sake of recruiting.

I agree with OP but I also agree with this dude^. I mean, at least give the kid a shot! He did have a phenom 80yard run! After that you'd think he'd give him a couple more shots!
We could've won the game with Hendrix starting!!

Not sure about that, but I knew we weren't going to beat STAN with Rees at the helm. I was surprised with some of the throws Hendrix made, thros that ND could never HOPE to complete with Tommy. Or Dayne, but only because Dayne has no touch, not because DC could not heave the ball downfield.

But now with a run-pass option at the QB position like Kelly had with Collaros at QB, I think it is long past time to hand the keys to the offense over to Hendrix. Rees should NEVER, EVER see the field again, unless Hendrix is mortally wounded. Even then, I would go with Andrew.

I think Kelly's the man. At least for the next 3 years, no threats of firing. He needs room to breath and work with the team. I think he'll get them there. This is the best looking N.D. team in quite some time, with all it's faults. Sloppy. That's BIG on the coaching agenda for the near future. Gotta stop beating yourself with turnovers and penalties.

I agree. BK's yelling is just him taking advantage of a teachable moment. ... I'm not convinced N.D. would've won, though, if Hendrix started. Stanford is simply a better team right now, and the Cardinal showed it. Our guys showed a lack of poise right from the start with the back-to-back illegal procedure violations. Our guys got the shakes as they have in every big game (USC, U-M and now Stanford.) It's disappointing, but I think BK will get the Irish up to speed eventually.

I love the passion of Kelly but I think he can't bully and scream at players at this level. He goes nuts and it looks bad for the school and if you are not winning like Saban then it makes him look foolish. It might work at smaller schools but most of the kids at this level are used to having the behinds kissed. I think the jury is still out on his actual coaching ability in the spotlight. This team has top 10 talent continues to under-perform. I hate to say it, but this is another season with a soft schedule and no signature wins. MSU is/was ranked but would be crushed by most of the teams in the SEC. ND would be lucky to win 4 games if they were in the SEC, 5 in the ACC and 6 in the Big Ten. I think it is time for ND to join a conference or start playing and beating a better schedule.

ND needed a hard-*** coach to come in and shape these guys into winners. When mediocrity was the norm for so long, its tough to mold a whole team into winning ways. He's on the right track, and with another nice recruiting class, I think they'll be alright.

Notre Dame forever!

And that's what Kelly is trying to change. Its big boy football now, and he's teaching them that they're out there to play ball, and they need to earn it and won't just be handed a spot to play, and when they mess up they need to hear about it.

People forget this was the norm in the 70's and 80's, Lou Holtz was ALWAYS grabbing kids by the facemask and laying into them.

If they want their *** kissed the go elsewhere. BK is setting a standard. See Lynch, Tuitt and others. The BK guys ....

**** poor play like this is the guys fault. Not BK's fault. Rees is a bitch and Golic can't block.

Love Brian Kelly. CW loses this game 42-0. Right track, right coach....it takes a whole lot of patience and time. But Coach K is the horse to pick in this race. Go Irish.

  • More reason to yell at the kids then, right?
  • So you want ND to compete at a Bama level in Kelly's second season?
  • So you don't think ND could win 4 SEC games, 5 ACC games, or 6 Big Ten games, but you want them to join a conference and expect improvement?
What are you smoking?

I hope you guys are right but until BK actually wins something, I think he is hurting the program with his sideline antics. Holtz was a long time ago, these players weren't alive back then. I think the team is undisciplined, like our coach on the sidelines.

And to make an undisciplined team disciplined, you have to yell at them to get it through their head. If you ever played sports, you get tired of getting yelled play after play after play, so you make the adjustments to get your coach off your back. If not, you get sat down on the bench, its as simple as that...old school bad-*** antics is something this program has lacked for a long while...

Kelly has made us tougher, on the defensive front 7 mostly, but too often his teams look as sloppy as Gerry Faust's. Anybody who witnessed that era knows what I'm talking about. If Kelly doesn't correct this problem, we'll be a perennial 8-4, 9-3 team under him. We can't be jumping off sides, blowing assignments, turning the ball over, not have a punt return game etc. etc. and expect to be a Top 10 program. The discipline should be showing up by now like the toughness is on the front 7. Sadly, it isn't.
