ya but we also couldnt move the ball...i mean the offense got 165 yards in 2007 and 91 in 2008 against USC. We actually have an offense that can move the ball. We also held USC to their lowest point total in 2005 with a pretty awful defense. I think if we're in a similar situation in 2005 where were still in the game midway through the 2nd quarter, we can get some momentum going into half time and it will be a close game. I'm always optimistic but if were in a situation like 2006 where were down 21-3 early, were not going to win. If its a one score game at halftime, we will win. Otherwise, not gonna happen.

Why wouldnt they? Michigan scored 38 against us. Michigan State scored 33, Washington scored 30 and could have scored at least 2 more touchdowns. They only put up 30 against Washington State and 13 vs Washington.

I will agree that their defense is pretty good but I am not sure if anyone can stop this offense.

It will be tough to hang 31 on SC...its possible...the thing we need is the D to nut up...

We have some speed, and I'm seeing some better scheming the last few games...(not drunken blitzing anymore) Manti can actually shadow SC running backs...and if you use him to keep McKnight from busting off 15-20 yarders...SC has a problem themselves...they can dink and dunk, but they'll feel pressure if Mcknight is held in check...and they'll chuck it...good for us...not sure SC QBs can beat us themselves...so long as our D-backs don't girl up...Walls worries me

I do believe we have as potent an offense as SC would face all year...yea we'll miss Floyd, but seriously, you gotta stop Tate, Allen, and Rudolph...not sure that can be done consistantly. Allen is a FAR better back than I thought he was...quick in the holes alot of North/South running, and alot of YAC...I put him among some of the best they will see...Hughes won't likely hurt SC running, but he could as a check down receiver...the o-line is not the same ole' oline...I think SC is about to be shocked a little bit by our running game...as highly touted as their D is...


Also, look for a special teams score...I think we have been pretty close to busting a KO return...just a little more confidence, and a different decision here and there and we'd already have a couple...were close there...and Tate returning punts...its merely a matter of time...we are at the halfway point, and haven't busted one yet...its time

I think we can win if we win the turnover battle(daaaa), and we establish some semblance of a run game between the 20s to allow play action to give Jimmy time to smoke 'em in the red zone. Don't think we'll be able to run alot in the red zone, but they can't stop Rudolph, and Jimmy is MUCH better at sliding out of pressure, and punishing folks for allowing him more than 4 seconds...tate will kill them in those situations...not sure guys playing on Sundays can stop Tate if he is running around out there and Jimmy is given time...and SC will be susceptible to screens if we don't overuse them early...thinkin wildcat is a bad idea against this team, but we'll see it...

I see this one as yet another that will be decided late...

I totally agree! I mean, come on, let's look at USC's body of work THIS year, and stop referring to what they did LAST year, and in years prior. THIS year, they beat, who??? San Jose State??? Come on now. A very marginal (imo) Ohio State team - who, incidentally, barely beat Navy; and an over-hyped, over-inflated Cal team, who got spanked by Orgeon, who almost lost to Purdue....who WE BEAT!! I know, I know, you can't use the laws of logic in college football (If we beat so and so, and they lost to so and so, then we will beat so and so....) Right now, the standings show STANFORD atop the Pac 10, and I acutally think Stanford has a good chance of knocking off the condoms this year. And let's NOT forget that Washington BEAT USuCk this year, and held their offense to some very pedestrian numbers.

I believe that this team can beat 'SC. But it is going to take nearly perfect execution, on BOTH sides of the ball. Let's not forget that we have a bunch of kids who are learning how to win. 'SC is made up of a bunch of kids who "just KNOW" that they will win. You win as a team, you lose as a team. It will take TEAM execution, in order to win next week. Having said all of that........It is my hope that we not only beat them, but that we hammer then. I would love to see Charlie put the hammer down, and keep it there, for all 4 quarters. Nothing would please me more than to hang 40+ points on them, while holding them to less than 17.
