With the recent decommitment of O. Hunter, Who would you like most to add to the d-line to help fill the gap?

Even though he's not a tackle, I voted for Datone Jones because I think he's going to be great and I think we have a great shot at getting him.

I chose other because watching the Rivals videos of him at the AA practices he was easily handling everyone he went against. The only D line prospect that looked better than him was Forston.

Seeing how both Dantone, and KLM are being recruited tp play a different position, I voted for Martin. If your going to fill his slot than it should be with another big body guy.

The good news guys is that we did not need Omar or any other NT to come right in and start. We have a very solid NT in Ian Williams who will anchor the position in 2008. We need someone to come in and give some quality rest minutes to Ian just like he did for Kuntz in 2007. I believe that Hafis and Brandon can do that. Adding another like Mike Martin will really make us solid. In 2008 we will finally have a NT playing his natural position. Ian is a NT, Pat Kuntz was a DE/DT playing NT. He was undersized but gave good effort. In 2008, Kuntz and Brown can play DE's and Ian will be the man at NT.

My post is directly above yours. Rivals has a video with Newman. I'm rather impressed with his personality.

Oh, you were talking about Newman. You never mentioned his name in your first post so I didn't know who you were talking about. Thanks for clearing it up ND=NC.

Sorry about that. I thought I put Newman's name in the post.

I would be happy with either of them. I voted Kabongo, but Martin would be great. If anything, to show RR what he's now up against.

I think a kid by the name of Brandon Newman might be a good start... Ian Williams sounds like a decent second option as well...

Mike Martin. Anytime we can steal a recruit from Michigan is cause for celebration; the fact that he is a bona fide blue chipper is frosting on the cake.

As long as the kid who gets the scholarship WANTS to be at ND and be part of turning things around then I don't really care who it is...

Omar's BS reasons for the change of heart were discouraging...didn't think he fit our "style" of play? Really? That and the distance thing....if homeboy can't grab a map and figure out that Los Angeles is East-Jesus-otherside of the country from Georgia then I have to question the validity of his test results and transcript in the first place...

Bottom line though is that its better to know now that an extra scholarship is available then to find out on NSD or have a guy show up and eventually transfer because his heart is elsewhere...

Best of luck to Omar Hunter at UF (or whereever) unless they are playing ND, in which case, I am hoping to to see the O-line turn into the Denver Broncos O-line for a day....

I just saw an article on Scout saying that Nick Martin got an offer from ND today. However its premium content so I wasn't able to read it. Also, I don't know if its being reported on any other sites.

I read the article. Coach Brown made the call, Weis is in Puerto Rico right now. Basically it says that he is real excited to get the offer. That he liked the Irish early but never got an offer and that disappointed him. He said he was still 100 percent committed to Michigan but he owed it to himself to go visit ND sometime in January to make sure Michigan was the place for him. Said he talks to Jonas Gray alot but that he also is very close with the Michigan kids currently committed.

I'll take anyone our coacing staff thinks will help us win. I went with Martin only because he plays the same position as the guy who decommitted. Go Irish!

I voted for Martin as well. He seems like he might be another Trevor Laws, with the wrestling and the similar builds.

Glad to see my hometown boy Newman gettin' some love. He really is a great kid, great attitude as well. His team wasn't the strongest this year, so opponents focused on him, double and triple teaming him. He still had solid numbers. I admit, KY isn't a stonghold of talent, so I never knew how he'd fare against the best. Glad to see he's holding his own in AAA camp.

He takes things seriously, especially education. He had a lot of pressure to go to UK for different reasons, but was steadfast with ND. When he visited UofL, they tried the Pete Carroll aproach, and let BN have fun more than anything. He got to play WR in scrimmages, prolly more than his own position. He never said it, but I don't think that approach agreed with him. He never visited again, and he only lives a few minutes away. I can't predict success for Brandon because there are too many variables. But I can say that Brandon truly is a ND guy.
