So now that we know JC and GT are going pro, do you all think we can have 3 players go in the 1st round? I've seen Sam Young projected as a 1st rounder in a couple of mock drafts. I don't think he should, but that's my thought.

It's been awhile since ND has had multiple players go in the 1st round. Since what...93 I think.

Clausen in the early 1st. Tate in the early 2nd, and Young late second or third in my opinion.

2 if young somehow slips in there. he is projected late first early second from everything i have heard. Jimmy will go first round.

tate probably late 2nd or early 3rd, unless he has a hell of a combine. alot could change with the combine, for Tate,Jimmy,Young, and McCarthy.

Everything I've heard so far would indicate that the only one who would go in the first round is JC. Don't forget there are going to be alot of underclassmen coming out this year, which will make alot more raw talent available and some teams may be willing to take a risk on some guys. I would project SY and GT to go late second round, early third.

If anything, ND guys have been going later than projected in the last few drafts (see: Quinn). That being said, as everybody has said, the combine could change a lot of things.

call me crazy but I think Tate could (should) go before Clausen. In the NFL you can have a good QB thats not a first rounder but...a receiver like Tate only comes by once in a (gold) and blue moon :). He should be a top ten. He is far more NFL ready than Clausen. I think Jimmy will be a top 20. no idea where Sam will go.

It depends more on the needs and draft location of the team than the strengths or weaknesses of the players.

It will shape up better after the regular season of the NFL is concluded.

will be interesting to see how Sam does at the combine. i think he had a very mediocre season. i can't see him as a first rounder, but then again, i'm not an evaluator of NFL talent.

McCarthy will be lucky, if he gets drafted at all. That kid, while I love his attitude, couldn't cover a bed with a blanket. In the NFL, safeties have to play pass coverage.

I thought I saw Sam Young as a late round pick. Could be wrong though.....

His stock dropped badly, when he clean missed that block against Stanford or UConn or Pitt. Im having a hard time putting his missed blocks to the game he missed them.

Hes a Guard in the NFL, I just can't see him playing Tackle.

i would be tremendously surprised if sy went in the first round. he has the size to play but i do not see the technique, agility or toughness it takes to play on the next level. many times i didnt see those things to the extent you need in major college football.

i wish him luck and hope he can get drafted play well and make some good money but i really have my doubts.

I think he might be a smidge too tall to play guard, I mean what quarterback could see past him?

Clausen will be a top 15 pick

Tate 2nd rounder (maybe late 1st)

Sam Young 2nd rounder (could go higher becuase you dont pass up o-lineman with that much potential)

I know at the beginning of the year young was projected late 1st early 2nd but he really did not have the year people thought because i know he could of climbed up the draft boards if he played well and it looks like 3rd to 4th round, oh well theres always the combine to show ur athletic ability. Clausen is obviously 1st round, but im still confused on how some of these drafts don't even have tatae in 1st round IMO he should be top 20, i mean just watch a highlight tape of him and you see how special he is

There are coaches who take into account measurables and feel that they can turn the potential into reality (Jamarcus Russel). Tate lacks ideal WR size, but i believe he will be taken in the 1st 2 rounds

Dude, I don't know what you guys are smoking. Did you watch SY this year? Experts say (Kiper Jr. and McShay are not experts) that Young is 3rd round at best, maybe 4th. I think Clausen with a good combine will be 1st QB taken. Tate could be first rounder as well with a good combine. I guess SY could jump back into that 2nd round discussion with a GREAT combine, but his game has been going in the wrong direction. Look for Eric Olsen to make a big splash with a good combine. If you watched the o-line closely this year, he was mistake free, and got the best push out of anyone. I believe his footwork has impressed immensely as well. He can play center or guard which is ideal. Look for McCarthy to get picked up in the later rounds, as well as Darrin Walls and Sergio Brown. Although, the latter two have a chance of going undrafted. Other than that, we really didn't have a lot of seniors, but we definitely have some guys that are going to be big in the nfl.

Earlier in the season, I had heard Young was being projected in the first round. However, I can no longer see any scenario in which that would be the case. When you watch those nice little draft day highlight reels, the first round caliber offensive linemen are pancaking opponents all the time--especially when the team is on the goal line or in a critical short yardage situation. I didn't see a single time this year when Sam Young--or any of the other offensive linemen--got that big block when the team needed it most. Young was usually getting blown back or creating a stalemate. I don't think he has he a shot in hell at the first round. He'll be drafted and he'll hang around the league, but he's going to be a sixth or seventh offensive lineman for whomever he plays for thorughout his career.

This site: Sam Young | Notre Dame, OT : 2010 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile has him going in the 3rd or 4th round.

I think McCarthy may slide up into the fourth round because of the success of Ndukwe & Zibby. Young looks to be a late 3rd. JC will be top ten and I see Tate being picked up late in the first by a good team that needs a WR.

it will be difficult for Tate to go 1st round when there may well be 2 or 3 wr's taken before him.

I would say Clausen will go top ten. A lot of people have him as their number 1 or 2 Qbs which seems right. I will say Tate goes second for sure. I think he does have a shot to slip into the late first, especially if there is a team that falls in love with him. I think that Young will be a 3-4 round pick he never really lived up to what he was supposed to be coming into school. However when you look at his size and experience some team will pick him up with hopes they can turn him into the tackle he was supposed to be.

Personally, if Golden Tate goes later than the first round, he should go and personally punch Charlie Weis in the mouth for giving him bad advice. I actually think he is going to slip to the second round. Jimmy Clausen I believe is going to slip to late 1st round maybe even 2nd round. I'm hearing a lot of feedback about possible character issues and maturity. I'm not saying that it is true but it seems to be gaining momentum and we know how that can kill your draft position look at Warren Sapp and Randy Moss. I just heard Teddy Greenstein on 670AM Chicago compare him to a Jay Cutler attitude. That won't help him. Greenstein also stated that Jimmy had more incidents at Notre Dame that never got publicized. Interesting if true, no proof though. Greenstein stated that his contacts at Notre Dame have been saying that everyone has been more excited about Crist more than Clausen. I personally think any team who takes Sam Young in the first (3) rounds needs to be thrown out of the league. He was terrible this year, absolutely terrible. McCarthy won't get drafted, appreciated his effort but couldn't cover ANYBODY. Look at Zibby, way better than McCarthy and still second string at Baltimore, granted he is playing behind Ed Reed.

2 Tate will end up being a first rounder, Young should slip in my opinion. I wouldn't draft him with a 3rd round pick. Go back and look how bad that fool got dominated this season. Even by lesser talented players. He just never panned out. Don't care if he started every game he played he wasn't ever very good.

I agree with the Tate thing! ...if he doesn't I'll punch Weis between the eyes. Its pretty clear that Jimmy has an attitude. I don't think that'll effect his selection though. People can see his potential beyond his attitude.
