How close do you think we are to being more excited about the current players than the incoming ones? Every recruiting season we are excited about this player and that player stepping in and being a big time contributor. I understand that we have needed that but are we close to saying, "I can't wait till so and so gets a year in the system then shines after his red shirt year."

We needed Tuitt and Lynch just as we need Tee and Fergyola/Brown this year. Do you think that we will, after this next season (2012), be able to say were more excited to see the guys from 2012 season grow, more than we are to see the new recruits (2013) step in?

I feel that is going to be a telling sign that we are close.

Golson, Rabasa, Nix, Tuitt, Lynch, Tee, Mahone,Cam Rob, Kiel, Daniels, Fergyola, Cierre (YES CIERRE), Niklas, Ishaq, Moore, Shumate, GAIII and Brother, Koyack, Day, Kona, Prestwood and every single O lineman! That should be plenty to make us be pumped for 2013 right?

Sorry ... left out HEGGIE!!!

I am excited to see Hardy, Jalen Brown, Daniels, and Rabasa from last years class. Of course I know I am forgetting someone but still.

Oh, I think those of us who follow recruiting will almost always be more excited about the incoming players than about many of the veterans. Because recruits are all potential. We haven't watched them suck yet.
But, then. Gary Gray was the #2-rated cornerback in his class. I'd bet back in 2008 we were all more excited about him than, say, then-starter Terrail Lambert. Was Gray a better college football player than Lambert? Yeah, maybe a bit. But far from an All-American. Blanton, probably a better football player today, was our lowest-rated recruit the year we signed him.
Point is, projecting the eventual output of recruits is a crapshoot. Yes, talent tends to rise to the top, but there are so many variables. So absolutely, let's be excited about the talent we bring in. But remember most of the veterans were elite recruits, too, and the new guys haven't played a meaningful minute yet. We don't know what someone's going to be until they strap on a helmet and line up in the Coliseum or Michigan or a big game in South Bend.

I'm way more excited about our redshirt freshmen/sophomores who got minimal playing time than our true freshman, but I feel like that's kind of normal, especially when there is a player like Everett Golson there.

We will only stop looking forward to the next group when we win another title. Until then, we will always be excited about the next great thing. With that said, I'm pretty excited about the entire group we currently have and hope we are not saving anyone for the future. The time is now. BEST man in...
