I consider myself a huge fan of Irish football. I watch every game that is televised and I am starting to believe our playbook is very small with limited plays. I do not study film as does the teams we play against but when I can call the play from my chair there is something wrong. Not too mention we went back to something that has not been working all day. I don't know what else to say. This loss should be blamed soley on the coaching staff and more specifically the offensive playcalling. Until we are more creative with our playcalling and have that go for "the kill" mentality we will never be a consistant top 10 team. I believe in good sportsmanship but unless the other team quits trying to score then we should stick to what is getting us points as well. If we win by 40 points then so be it. We seem to go into "run the clock mode" when we are up by 14. Too bad that is not enough. I would relax when we were up by 30 points with 10 minutes left. Then I would go in the "run the clock mode". Who knows....maybe it's just me.

The playcalling is lousy and the running game lacks imagination. We have 4 good RB's that aren't given much to work with. CW needs to take another look in the mirror. He gets paid alot for on the job training.

Two things you should never do,run a stretch play inside the 5 and throw a fade from the 10 I could'nt agree with you more it's horrible playcalling

I cringe everytime we run the ball. It seems like half the time its a 5 yard loss.

It looks to me like Clausen is tipping the running play long before it developes. He holds the ball out forever. I think they need to run the ball more and work on their exchange. Maybe not use such a deep drop back to "hand off". Some plays it looks like they get the handoff seven yards behind the line. You know though, if Clausen hits that receiver in the seam in the second ot, or was it the third? They score the td and we are not having this conversation.

Actually every time the Irish send a reciever in motion we run the ball. We noticed that yesterday in the stands, and if we can figure it out other teams can also figure it out. As far as being outcoached, I will agree the coaching saturday leaves alot to be desired but i noticed alot of other things.

The biggest being Jimmy still locks onto one reciever and that is where the ball is going. We had wr.'s open that were not even looked at. And yes Jimmy did have time to find them .

Lots of good points. Only thing I will say about playcalling - compare this year's scoring output to last year's. I still gotta kinda keep the faith here as far as playcalling goes.

I would like to see a few more quick dump-offs or short timing patterns. Maybe some flares to the RBs. Some comeback patterns.

But that's why I am a fan who overslept through two losses (God told me to) and the coaches are millionaires.

I agree 100% with your analysis.

It seems every play is an obvious handoff and running play. In fact, the fans were calling the next play(s) during the game. If we (I) can see it, boy, are we in trouble.

We could also use a little misdirection in our running game. Maybe Charlie should look at film of some of Ara's and Lou's running attacks .

yeah no kidding... with Allens "home run threat" ability you'd think we'd do that much more often

I will preface my post with the fact that I know nothing about football playcalling. But it sure seemed we were able to use the run very effectively in our opening possession, and then proceeded to abandon it ENTIRELY.

We have boatloads of offensive talent, but what I see is lots of 1-on-1 'sandlot' plays. I L-O-V-E Floyd and Tate, but this 'bomb or bust' offense sure has blown up in our face against moderate competition in the second half of those 2 games.

This team should be 8-0. Sorry, don't buy youth, don't buy learning how to win. We have had better talent line up in every matchup this season. This schedule had 11-1 written all over it, and who knows with an 11-0 record rolling into L.A.

I will complain no more about the season to date. Let's go fu** up the Eagles and get back to our happy place.

Crank me (back) up.
