I have used government surplus ammo cans for a long time. They make great tool boxes, tackle boxes, or just multi-purpose storage containers. Recently, I started tinkering with painting them for something different than just the OD green. I did a few with different camo patterns (you can see two of the camo'd cans in the "Pics of Your Guns" thread.

However, I wanted to branch out and do a Notre Dame can. This is my first attempt at using stencils and spray paint on these cans.

If you have other Notre Dame related homemade projects you have done, I would love to see your work!

Very cool!

HCTI did a home project for his son. You may have to do a search for the thread. But, he may be kind enough to post the pictures again or steer you in the right direction.

Did you paint the logos on there? If so, yours are cleaner and crisper than mine. I used frisket film to mask off the areas and then cut out the areas to be painted with an Xacto knife. I did the white background first and then cut another mask for the gold. Thats why I didn't do the full color Lep. I didn't want to cut 7 different layers of masks.

LOL.... No those are decals from the University. I wish I could have painted them. I'm lucky I did what I did. Not very handy when it comes to things like that.

Well, it looks bitchin' either way. I would have preferred to use decals, but they don't hold up as well. They don't adhere to the metal very well either. I use these cans a lot out on my tool bench and my art studio so they get beat up and the decals come off. Also, when the metal warms up, they peel right off.

Nice. Don't let those young whipper-snappers get you down. I dig your style. :)

Very cool, I just started a corn hole set today that I'm hoping to have ready for the USF v FSU game this Sat.
I think I want ND on one and the leprechaun on the other.
Anyone have advice on how to get a stencil/decal big enough for a 48"x24" board?

Those are very cool!

If you ever decide to sell some of those, I'd like to be one of your first customers. Let me know.
