Hit the weights. It's a proven fact that weight training burns more calories that running does. You don't have to lift heavy, but light weight, heavy reps will really tone you.

Cardio is nice, but should be a complement to your weight training.

And don't bother on the abs until you've lost some fat...love seeing the biggies in the gym doing sit ups or crunches. Like you can tell.

I'm about 6'3, 245 and I'm in decent shape, could stand to lose about 10-15lbs. Lost 30lbs in fat last year just hitting the weights and mixing in some cardio 3 days a week.

And eat a good, protein rich breakfast. Light dinner.

that is all. The Irishpat diet will lead you to victory.

And I'm on board.

6'3, 248 to be exact. I'm shooting for 220. I'm a big guy, so anything less would cut into muscle and I'd look like a bean pole.

Time to do work, boys!!!!

January 3rd, 2012 ----- 274lbs

Here is my goal...

Currently I weigh 274 lbs.........OMG!!!!!!

My goal is to get back down to 190-210 range

3 years ago I was 205 and ran a half marathon is Cbus...time 1 hour 59 minutes (my goal was under 2 hours...barely got it)

Started dating my now wife shortly after the run and that's when the weight kicked in

Goal is seven days a week like old times. Running a mile on the first day and ramping it up to around 6-7 a day.

Weekends either run or walk with my wife and dog.

Weight-training and body resistance workouts as well on those days.

The goal is to run in the Glass City Marathon...(half marathon for me) this coming April.

I put myself in a big hole but it's drastic change for me to get back to where I was and where I should be.

Welcome aboard fellow fattys! We can do this!

Todays snack at work instead of chips....sugar snap peas. Everyone that spots me eating them does a double take.

Excuses! I just had surgery on my sinuses (Horrible, no matter what anyone tells you)...I can't wait to hit the gym.

You could get ready by just doing about 40-50 pushups a night for a week. Sets of 10. Seriously.

I could but doing push ups with a fever isn't the best feeling in the world

Another great day in the books. 1 hr workout and just under 2000 calories of food. Having fun with it so far.

This mornings weight in.......drum roll please!

-3.5 lbs!

Yes!!

Well done.

My plan to go from 3000 calorie diet / day to a 1000 calorie diet / day along with kickboxing is under evaluation since I passed out yesterday. WTF. To drastic....so I am implementing plan B.

Whoa! No passing out. You need between 1800-2000 cal. per day bud, especially if your working out. Hope your OK?

My wife and I are both looking to lose the 30lbs we put on since our marriage 3 years ago. We have both lost 4.5-5lbs since Monday, January 2nd. We are using the "My Fitness Pal" app (or website) and really love how user friendly it is. Here is our basic regiment:

-Cardio Workout (Elliptical mostly) 3-4 times/week 30-45 mins
-Fat Smash Diet plus Jordan Rubin's "Cleansing Chicken Soup"

We make a couple small exceptions to the Fat Smash Diet. One is the Chicken Soup mentioned above. It is actually more of a Chicken Stew. Very good, healthy and low in calories. Also we make other reasonable exceptions including one "cheat meal" per week. Can be most anything, but we limit it to one meal. Usually pizza and wings. I actually prefer to call it a "reward meal." This system has worked well for us before, our only trip up in the past has been busyness. So we are trying to be much more proactive when we see a busy couple of days coming up.

Good luck to everyone on the weight loss journey! Keep us posted and we will do the same.
