sad, Golden has by far the best season of anyone in cfb... that's not loyalty that's fact... and he's not invited b/c the D couldn't stop anyone

Guess, out of some kind of sad respect... they had to recognize Teabag....

I thought spiller was a finalist, because they just showed a commercial on espn where they said one player will have his dream come true and they showed spiller and gerhart

Gerhart: 321 touches for 1885 yards (5.87 average) 26 TDs
Golden Tate: 133 touches for 1915 yards (14.39 average) 18 TDs

Agreed, gotta give the edge to Tate...pretty easily actually

Very true, this feeds the anti-ND bias even more. They bring 5 to NY, yet when Quinn was in the running I believe he not only was not invited, they only sent 2. Absolute joke! The only legitemit candidate out of the group is gerhart.

Yes GT one TD every 7.4 touches while Gerhart had one TD every 12.4.

guess technically, that is true if they're talking about just a trip to NY.

really, compare Teabow's season to Golden's... if Tim Teabow is ANY OTHER player he doesn't get a whiff of New York... sorry but the kid did nothing to warrant it this season, I understand he IS one of the greatest ever but it's a SEASON award not a career one (at least it's supposed to be)...

fact is he may even win the damn thing... on name alone

Gerhart's team lost 4 games, should he be ranked so high? Just sayin', their criteria and all.

Should be Gerhart, will probably be Ingram, Would not be shocked if its Tebow even though he should have never been considered a candidate

Tim Brown won it when ND lost 4. Gerhart embodies what that trophy is about far above the others. Unfortunately you're probably correct & they'll sadly give it to Ingram.

One of the Greatest ever? I would strongly disagree. McCoy, if anybody, should get the lifetime achievement award.

3 people should have been invited this year: Golden, Suh, and Gerhart

Bad year for the Heisman. Still no one has shown they really deserve it IMO. My vote though, if i had to pick, goes for Gerhart. The kid is a beast, and stanford wouldnt be stanford without him.

2. Suh
3. McCoy
4. Ingram
5. Tebow

1. Mark Ingram -did all his damage in a brutal SEC division, not the "cake" SEC division that Florida played in this year.
2. Toby Gerhart - deserves to be a very close second, but the award was Ingram's to lose going into the last week.
3. Ndomukung Suh - Defensive players don't win Heismans
4. Colt McCoy - 3 ints blew any chance he had in the Big 12 Title game
5. Tim Tebow - CJ Spiller, Golden Tate, or Jimmy Clausen should have been here

Heisman/perception/media

Heisman/perception/media

I've posted this thought before and its a tie in with Tate not being invited to NY. It may be something to consider. I know I'm not allowed to start threads but this ties in with Tate not going to NY for a 'pat on the back'. He deserves to be there. Notre Dame needs to make a concerted effort in the future with some type of show to promote the school. NBC does not do this and never will. Notre Dame needs to develope some type of program on a national level to combat the media blitz of other NCAA entities. With the $$$ and prestiage of Notre Dame it is imperative to develope this. These other so called non/bias shows do exactley that for their agenda and why not Notre Dame. As a subway alum you will notice that I NEVER refer to Notre Dame as WE when talking about my Irish as I feel that is not my right, but there are multitudes of us out there that see this gap of media hype and want it closed. The university should consider this because Notre Dame will start winning again and when they do I do not want to see the Irish left out because they didnt play the media game. Not only for the Heisman but remember a #5 ranked Irish going to the Cotton Bowl and taking on Texas-dismantling them and then being voted #1. That would never happen today because of the national perception that Notre Dame is not what it once was. Of course Notre Dame is not what it once was but when they win (and they will win again) the table should be prepared for media competition because thats what it has morphed into in today's college football world. This very serious idea needs to be addressed by the university.

on what alien basis???... the guy would have LOCKED the title of greatest ever with a repeat proformance of his sophmore season... but he didn't do it... this year he was a shadow, but still a very good player... but Teabow is undoubtedly one of the top 25 or so EVER... McCoy is a great cfb QB no doubt... Teabow is the best cfb player of his era... I hate the Gators but come on... really???
