The point about the second touchdown against Vaughn is legit. He made a great play on the ball (which was perfectly thrown by a stud 5 star QB) but Clemson’s (stud 5 star) WR made an even better catch. Tough to see how love plays that one any better.

Yeah...he's upset with Quinn's and Lea's recruiting? The fuck? How can you complain about Carroll/Correll/Kristofic/Olmstead and 10 4* defensive recruits, that could rise to 11 or 12?

I really liked this class, it hit everywhere we needed except a game changing skill guy at WR or RB.

If Love is in most likely Lawrence doesn’t look that way and throw the ball.

When was the last time we got a game changing skill player? Honest question.

I don't follow recruiting very closely but I'm thinking Michael Floyd? It's been literally a decade if I'm right.

I guess it depends what you mean. Jurkovec and Austin were top 100 guys last year. Wimbush was a top 50 guy. The last five star skill guy was Greg Bryant though he didn’t actually make an impact. I suppose the last elite skill player at ND was Tyler Eifert and he was a 3 star.

EDIT: Fuller, duh.

I mean as far as skill guys, I’d put the 09’ skill guys against anyone, save the RB position

Why are we so small? Clemson and Bama are massive and play with rage. Like, Tillery. He’s ok, but there isn’t one thing imposing about that dude and he’s our stud d-lineman

Dude, you need to go back and look at our Dline guys in Kelly’s era compared to Weis. It’s night and day. We had freaking John Ryan starting at DE in 08’ for those who remember. We have closed the gap significantly. Nix and tuitt were huge. Kareem and Okwara are bothe 6’4” Okwara has room for some more lbs

IrishInOntario is one of the more informative and realistic posters over there. I think this post is pretty spot on. Not everything is out of our control in modern day CFB.

The point he makes about Gilman being too slow is bullshit. It was poor technique. Gilman would start for Clemson and has all American potential. People are overreaction prone and emotional... to put it gently.

So because it’s better than when Charlie was here it’s exceptsble to look like pip sqeaks compared to the big dogs of college football? Nix and Tuitt didn’t play last night. Terry Jillery did and did nothing but get us a dip shit 15 yard penalty.

From what I recall you’re a strength trainer. Massive and rage? There’s one obvious answer no? The documentary Icarus comes to mind.

I really don’t see where we look like pip squeaks, give me someone’s dimensions other than Bonner on the d line and tell me they don’t belong? We sacked Lawrence 3 times, should have been more. He’d been sacked 8 times all year. We weren’t out gunned up front against their o line. There is nothing wrong with our size on our o line, our athleticism and technique probably

I don’t disagree with much of what he said. The talent gap between us and Clemson/Bama/UGA/OSU is significant and it showed yesterday. We really only have one elite player in Love. The other top schools are loaded with them and at more important skill positions.

I quickly scanned both rosters from what I can tell we have one starter who is over 300 and that’s a 6’7 Tillery. There are 6’7 basketball players who weigh more. All of Clemson rotation at D tackle is over 300

Well that’s kind of my point. From my perspective putting on weight and developing a attitude is easy. Drugs ( roids) only enhance whatever you are. Think drinking, happy drunk vs mean drunk. Happy dudes are typically happy dunks, and mean equals mean drunk. Tranquil And Coney look the part to me: and I like the Gilman brings it. Outside of that. No mean streak

Where were we outgunning physically? We held Etienne to 26 yards rushing for quite some time, so because Kareem and Okwara aren’t 300lbs they are pip squeaks? That’s moronic. Also other than Zion Williamson they’re aren’t a lot of 6’7” basketball players over 300lbs or any worth a damn so that part I don’t get

This analysis is bad for a number of reasons:

(1) They play a totally different system, 3-4 D-line players are going to be bigger, end of story. Our D-line is roughly prototypical size for a 4-3.

(2) Clemson this year likely has the best front 7 of any team in recent memory. If that's what you're comparing to I have bad news for you.

(3) Our D-line has been a strength all year and had a good showing last night. Probably a top 5, certainly a top 10 D-line in the country.

I’m just saying there are 300lbs basketball players not that there all a bunch of Lebrons. Anytime we play elite competition specifically in the post season we are outmatched. Now, I do think it’s getting better. But by no means does it stack up to Bama’ , Clemson, Ohio State ( minus this year ) he’ll even Michigan. If we aren’t going to be 300lbs tankers then where is our Chase Vionivich? That’s all I’m saying. Like all the talking heads said prior to the game. There are no glaring soft spots, but we aren’t elite anywhere. I want us elite in the trenches. Win there the rest will take care of it’s self.

First off, LeBron never weighed over 300lbs so name other basketball players over 300lbs that aren’t 7 feet tall. Chase winnovich? What are you talking about? He had 5 sacks this year. Tillery, okwara, Kareem all had more than him. When we played a 3-4 all our guys were over 300lbs too. The point you made earlier was that we were pip squeaks which is not true, it was true in 06’ now it’s well we aren’t elite.

Lol, what? He runs a defacto 4-2-5. His defense is actually pretty simple. His reasoning for running that is you can have tons of movement in the back end to confuse the QB and guess what? His D-lines consistently just stuffs the middle. He’s a nice guy, I’ve heard him speak at a couple of clinics. He’s a nervous wreck though, he’ll give you anxiety.
