Golson's Stats

I wanted to put this statistic in its own thread, because I didn't know what else to do with it.

Everyone talked about how Golson's play drastically improved from the Oklahoma game on last year. I took his numbers from Oklahoma-Alabama and averaged them out. If he put up those numbers for a full 13 game schedule (which I think most people on here think he will at the minimum), here would be his numbers:

3,114 passing yards. 17 TDs and 6 INTs.

470 rushing yards. 9 rushing TDs.

Considering the fact that he should have drastically improved his game since the end of last year, he should be putting those numbers up this year at the absolute worst. I don't think it would be out of the question for him to throw 3500+ with 500+ rushing.

It's crazy when you think that BK got Golson 12 starts in a season we went 12-1 in. So important for this year and beyond that Golson got so many starts AND we had incredible success.

Finally, the QB debate and shuffling is over. It's going to be a great year.

Ya Gunner may be kind of wishy washy, but I really think he saw Golson improving and becoming irreplaceable. I know BK always has an open QB competition but Golson is the guy. You can see his leadership growing in the Spring vids too. He's going to be a special player for us.

My crystal ball gives a healthy golson---

30 TDs---thats 20 passing and 10 rushing---with just under 10 turnovers ---

3000 yards passing---- another 400 rushing---

11-2 for the team overall---

Maybe someone with a little more ambition than myself could post some other notable players such as Manziel's stats from last year so we can get a little perspective as to how those projected numbers stack up.

Manziel's numbers:

3,706 yards passing with 68% completion. 26 TDs and 9 INTs.

1,409 rushing yards. 21 TDs.

Stupid stats.

Yeah, let's not compare Golson to the record-setting reigning Heisman winner lol

Everett has always reminded me of Tyrod Taylor, maybe because I'm a fan of the Hokies too. Tyrod's senior year:
2,743 passing yds 24 TDs 5 INT
659 rushing yds 5 TDs

Here are a few other QBs yearly breakdown for comparison sake....

Jimmy Clausen
Freshman stats
10 games 54% comp 1254 yards 7 TD 6 INTs 125.4 YPG
Soph
13 games 61% comp 3172 Yards 25 TD 17INTs 244 YPG
Junior
12 games 68% comp 3722 yards 28 TD 4 INTs 310 YPG

Brady Quinn
Fresh
12 games 47% comp 1831 yards 9 TD 15 INTs 152 YPG
SO
12 games 54 % comp 2586 yards 17 TD 10 INTs 215 YPG
JR
12 games 65% comp 3919 yards 32 TD 7 INTs 326 YPG
SR
13 games 62% comp 3426 yards 37 TD 7 INTs 263 YPG

EGolson
Freshman (Redshirt)
12 games 59% comp 2405 yards 12TD 6INTs

Also if Tommy Rees can put up 2871 yards 20 TDs and 14 INTs in his 13 game SO season then I think Golson can top 3000 yards 25 TDs and 11 INTs... Golson will not be throwing to Michael Floyd like Tommy was but Golson should put up better numbers than Tommy in their SO years....

Same here with Tyrod Taylor. I think I may have posted that in his recruiting profile actually. I know I posted it somewhere.

Taylor was the man at Va Tech. I've watched hi highlights from the final drive against Nebraska about 100 times.

I don't think Golson started every game.

EG should have a nice jump in stats this year and as long as he can improve on protected the football while on the run we should be in great shape. The key improvement I am anxious to see is what he is doing before the snap. If he is calling the right plays pre snap we be rolling baby!

The most impressive thing during 2012 for me about Golson was how he took over the Pitt game and won the game. He really impressed me with how clutch he was in a tough situation.

This!

His skill when the play breaks down is so fun to watch.

I wouldn't be pissed if it was Tommy, I would be thrilled that we had him because if it is him EG made some bad life choices.

I don't think you thought this one through. You said it'd only be Tommy if Golson made some bad choices, and that you wouldn't be mad if it was Tommy. So basically, you wouldn't be upset if Golson screwed up this summer, lol.

Just giving you a hard time.
