Supposed to be 67 in my part of Ohio Saturday, so we're getting our group together and heading to the course.

Played once this year and shot 40 (with a double and a triple). Was pretty happy overall. Hit the ball really straight, but it felt like I had lost about a clubs worth of distance (although, it was cold and wet, but it still seemed like a drastic decrease).

I still play my fitted Ping ISK irons I got almost 13 years ago now (I'm guessing they aren't so "custom fitted" anymore). Bought a Titleist driver last year (older model) and play generic walmart wedges/putter.

I really need to upgrade my equipment, but with a kid due in May, I really can't afford it now.

Really concerned about the lost distance, as it's kind of my game (I'm longer off the tee than probably 95% of amateur golfers, so my game has been to overpower courses. I don't even carry any woods other than Driver as I can't remember the last time I've actually needed one).

Guess I'll just have to learn how to play golf now that I can't just swing hard and hope :0)

Made it out too the range today. Felt like I didn't lose anything off my driver from last year. Irons still need a lot of work but I'm starting to get comfortable with my 4 and 6. Anyone use their woods out of the fairway or short rough? Any tips?

I'll use my 3 wood out of the fairway or rough as long as it isn't buried. Its kind of hard to give tips though if we don't know what problems you are having. As a general rule I'd say don't over swing with it and stay down through impact, pretty much the same as every golf shot.
