The part about Vangorder that a lot of us forget... The players hated him. He's not a fit for the newer generations at all.
I knew a guy that played under him at Georgia Southern as the HC.
He's one of those coaches that tries to piss guys off, just to get production. Works for some, but... times are different.
Parker is a Follower. The match with Freeman was Never gonna work.
Tommy needs to come back as OC at the least. Never gonna happen though.

I never understood what went wrong there. He got filed under the bad dude file that ND fans has just about every coach in football filed away in.

Freeman needs a seasoned OC. Someone with NFL experience to help run our pro style O. Someone who processes real-time with what's going on the field and doesn't try and figure it out on the run. This is football not neurosurgery. There are only so many possibilities. Parker is still learning what they are

Well Parker is in his first season and the big problem is the WR corps. I don’t get the WR coach getting a pass even though he is in his second year while Parker is getting dumped in with the worst ever bin.

I’d let Parker go tomorrow or at least demote him. Let Gio call the O from here on out.
You need to move on and find a new OC next year. It was maybe worth a shot to let your buddy be OC for a test with Hartman coming in, but it didn’t work out. Hartman has looked like garbage & you can’t just blame Sam.
You have 3-4 chances to get out to your 20 yard line after being pinned deep and you fail miserably. Sorry dude, back to position coach.

Adding: the passing protection has been horrendous all season. It seemed under Rees/Kelly those things were figured out big year at the latest. Hartman has really zero pocket time and never gets out of the pocket to throw. Why hasn’t this been implemented? The OC must go.
