I don’t think they’ll do it unless a booster(s) want to directly endow it beyond what is already allocated to that position.
It’s why there’s no point in having high expectations with this program.

Always wondered why more don't go to the D1 AA or D2 route and pluck the coordinator from the teams who dominate year in and year out. That's less of a risk than a never before OC who position coached at the D1 level. There has to be so much hungry talent in the lower levels that ND could actually "afford".

It’s not a terrible idea. We’ve now lost a few coaches to lateral moves to “bigger programs”. Might be better off embracing the “mid table” (to borrow a soccer reference) role and look for talent in other places.

Embrace the role of being the Brighton of D1 football.

Tough situation for the Irish. My heart says get an established OC to give Freeman a better chance at success. But that comes with challenges as well. How much will an established, seasoned OC be willing to risk it for a HC that’s still in the unproven stage in his career thus far?

The other alternative is just as tough. Make the wrong call on an up and comer and Freeman is likely out.

If I were making the call, given Freeman is a defensive guy, I’m getting a seasoned OC and would hope Freeman is smart enough to let the OC do what needs to be done on that side of the ball.
My understanding is that Bama's OC has ND ties lol

Are there any ND Lacrosse coaches that we could hire for OC? They seem to be our best offensive players, so…

At one point we ran a toss to the left side into the boundary with our tackle pulling from the BACKSIDE
It was the first play after the half. What made it crazier was that Louisville was heavy into the boundary. Just eliminating things like that would make it easier for the offense, before we even get to the more complicated fixes.

It’s basic stuff that people who don’t even really know football can see. Mind boggling and embarrassing.

Nobody should buy tickets to see an ND football game until this is fixed. Go watch the soccer/lacrosse/fencing team or something if you want to see competent coaching.
This type of season is bad timing for ND
We're negotiating an extension with NBC and now showing signs of being a train wreck.

If the coaches stay the same and the only changes come through normal player matriculation, I genuinely don’t see any scenario where the offense is a winning unit in 2024.

It's a shame how our offense has been performing the past couple of weeks with the kind of talent we have.

If the offense lays an egg next week vs the worst DC (in my opinion) in college football Parker needs to be let go. Last week Colorado put up 41 points and yesterday Arizona put up 41 points vs USC. This offense is more than capable of putting up points.

This year should've been easy/smooth for Parker with Hartman as QB, next year would've been a challenging year but a forgiven year because he should've done so well with Hartman as the QB this year (and he's not).

Has anyone complaining about not landing Ludwig bothered to look at what his offense has done over the past few weeks?

We don't motion to make the defense show their hand. We run man beaters against zone. We run into loaded boxes. They need to do more motion and movement to allow to get out of bad plays instead of all this being post snap reads.

Starting QB is out. Who knows how we’d look with him but his offenses have both been top 14 in scoring the last two years. Was 11th last year. We’ve not been that high since ‘05. Also runs a power run first offense and Freeman wanted him (and the OL coach). I’d assume we’re traditionally more talented than Utah.

Elko gave the blueprint on how to beat this offense and Porker had no answer with a week to prepare. Zero creativity, zero feel for anything.
