Really? We play 3 extremely hard games next year where ND is likely to be a significant underdog. Saying he expects 1-2 more losses because we lost a legendary OL coach and downgraded at OC makes it “NDNation”? Vegas will likely set the wins line around 8.

Define “significant underdog”. I’d bet each game’s spread is within one score. The two toughest ones are at home. The reasons ND dominated Clemson are still present, if not more enhanced with a QB who can actually complete a pass

Like most I am not thrilled with this hire. Ludwig had a 2.8 million buyout that shouldn't have been a problem with ND. That's on the ND admin.

Did Parker have the talent at WVU and Purdue that he is going to have at ND? No. Any OC should be able to put up points with the potential that ND will have on offense this year.

If Parker cannot produce this year, I would get rid of him.

Instead of bitching, moaning, and groaning I will give the guy a chance. Some people on this board.....

Go Irish!

I’m going to love seeing all the naysayers be wrong about Parker. It’ll be a joy watching all of them eat crow.

On the flip side though, the pro-Parker crowd really has no reason to be pro-Parker. I guess I would fall in that camp, but moreso because as long as Hartman is here, he will cover up any deficiencies that are present from the OC

People quite seriously blamed Rees for multiple losses. I am not a Parker fan, but is he going to single handidly add to that total even more while simultaneously upgrading the QB spot probably more than any team in P5?

They also added unnecessary pressure to get this hiring right. If they go 8-4 and the offense finishes 60th, oh boy.

This sounds dramatic, but I can’t tell anyone with a straight face that they’re going to beat the Big 3 of Clemson, Ohio State and USC this season.

What would be my argument for those wins?
How about this: We beat Clemson last year with Drew Pyne at QB, and with better QB play (and OL vs Ohio State) Ohio State and USC were probably tossups. We should have a much better QB and better/more experienced players at 9 or 10 of the 11 positions overall. Our defensive line may take a modest step back but otherwise the D should be at least as good, perhaps better as our talented young guys step up. Yes position coaches matter, but players matter more and we've got good ones growing into their roles.

Those teams will also try to get better, of course, and I wouldn't predict we beat all three of them. But I wouldn't predict we lose all three either.

Outside of a few West Virginia videos do have a clue what this guys offensive philosophy is?

People are forgetting how bad Drew Pyne was.

Like guys, he was that bad.
Could just be me but it seems there are enough people out there underestimating the role of an OC. Folks seem to be almost dismissive.

Best offensive players since 2015 and it's not that close.
Thank you! Hartman is a huge upgrade at ND. Did people forget what Estime and Diggs did vs. a decent SEC team in the bowl game? Our JR WR's need to step up; including Styles sophomore slump, and get an important hire at the o-line coach. Our 2023 offense should put up 30 points a game. I think all of our WR's can benefit with Hartman at QB.

I am in the minority of posters that didn’t call for Rees to be fired.

So I drastically down tick us for Rees to Parker

But I also drastically up tick us for Pyne to Hartman, assuming he stays.

I think hating Rees, hating Parker and hating Pyne is where some reside, and that is a tough place to co-exist in some way.

That’s fair to me.

That last line seems exhausting.

I think you’ll see a more quick read passes. Very basic RPO one read type stuff like run or slant pass. Run or bubble screen.

That was something Rees never seemed to particularly like, Hartman can easily do, and jives with Parker’s past more.

Looks to me like this sets up to be more of a collaborative effort in terms of what the offense will look like next year. I think that will prove to be successful based on the fact that they have some really good offensive position coaches and the best roster top to bottom on that side of the ball since 2015.

Seems like the hysteria is more about “what could’ve been” as opposed to what is. We’ll see I guess.

Hard to project with the unknowns at each, but I think it’s greater than 7 points against Ohio State and 3-7 points against USC/Clemson.

And that’s what it was last year.

A huge success would be getting to 2/3 of Clemson USC and Ohio St. I don't see it happening but

We 100% should have beaten USC last year. (Is there some OC out there who knows how to score tons of points against them? Lol.) Of course we beat Clemson and were semi-competitive vs OSU.
