Okay, I've had a few hours since the game to cool my jets. I voted yes on this pole and I stand by that vote. One thing that ND is going to have to do: find a top shelf head coach BEFORE firing CW. I hate to say "use" him but we can not hang ourselves out to dry.
Looking back at my posts in the game thread, I'm disappointed in myself. I won't defend the posts because they were pretty crude and I've wanted CW to work out. I wanted an alum to be at the healm. I want ND to win each and every year. Maybe I'm disappointed because I bought into all the hype. I bought the SI special edition from a few years back....it was the "Return to Glory" issue. I had high, high hopes for CW but those hopes have been dashed. Last year was, if you can ever say it without choking, excusable. This year, however, is not. We lost second half leads on a continual basis, we played down to the lesser opponents' levels and, excepting BC, played up to the better opponents' levels. That is a sign of poor coaching. The Florida's, USC's, Texas' of the world beat the shit out of the bad teams and, usually, win the tough games against good teams. We have done neither.
If CW stays the AD is going to have to insist that Latina does not. The offensive line has been our bane three years running and CW can't stick with Latina; he has not got the job done.
I'm sad for CW because I know that he wanted the job and he wanted like hell to succeed. The recruiting is where it needs to be, the schedule is manageable but the results, oh the results, are not where they should be.
Sorry, Charlie.
