I can't handle this anymore

I can't handle this anymore

This whole situation makes me sick.
I have tremendous respect for ND and I want you guys to win.
I'm just sick of the Charlie "spin".

I disagree, I think Ty did embarass us this much. But I still think Charlie needs to go

Not against such obviously inferior teams. Yeah sure, USC, Mich & FL-St. but he also beat all but USC. Who has CW beaten? I like CW better than Ty because at least he worked hard and recruited but his teams are FLAT!

The Irish cannot play consistently good football. They seem to be consistent in making mistakes and giving away games. If Notre Dame wants to play on the big stage, with the big boys, they are going to have to beat the teams they are supposed to beat.. Talk about not being able to finish. Just competing against a team that was 2-8 is not going to cut it. This should not have been a close game. Notre Dame's performance is similar to the stock markets.

This game shown again, that Notre Dame is not ready to play on the big stage. Lost at home, on senior day, against a 2-8 football team that on paper they should have blown out. Syracuse scores 14 points in the fourth quarter and the Irish can't even get a field goal? 3-6 on fields goals does not cut it, granted I do not fault him for two of the kicks. Four starts inside the Syracuse 24-yard line and only 6 points is not a recipe for victory. 23-10 at the end of the third quarter and they lose. Held to 48 yards rushing against a Syracuse defense rated at the bottom in rush defense, giving up and average of 209 yards per game?

Notre Dame will end the season at 6-6 as there is no way, short of divine intervention- that this Notre Dame team beats USC. Notre Dame can only hope to make a respectable showing and keep the game close.

Wheres all the People for Progress now? Someone asked me in another thread about the bowl game if I was inferring that ND would lose this game. I thought about it for a minute and simply replied, "Thats why they play the games".

Clearly it is time for Weis to go.

Yes vote for Hoke.

I've been an Irish fan my whole life; even when no one else around me was. I am very sad to say at this moment for the first time I don't think I can stand to watch any longer. One of the biggest things a coach has to be able to do is motivate his players, and the Irish haven't looked like they really want to win a game all year. Weis is supposed to be a play calling savant, and to tell you the truth he looks more like an idiot.

It's time to cut the loses and send Weis on his way. I WANT LOU BACK!!!

I voted to keep CW another year, simply because of the age of most of our skill players. Maybe losing games like they have this year will teach them how to win them next year. I am not happy with CW but I am just hoping they rally or something. The main reason I dont want him gone yet is who do you get? I mean really, who do you think wants to come and clean this mess up and only get three or four years to do it? Saban? MEYER? please. Miles? he lost three at home this year. Who? I say the BC coach but hell he may not want it. We got scorned by several coaches when Weis came. I think he is struggling right now but who can do better? Better yet, who wants it? Fulmer and Bowden are available but they got canned at their schools. I dont know. I just dont know.

Again....Who Wants This Job???? We ran out the last three coaches, 2 without their full contract (including Weis). You will ahve recruit defections as well as internal defections that were recruited by Weis. You will set the program back another 3 years at least. Suck it up, take your lumps for another month or two, and look to 2009.

There is no good coach in DivI-A that wants this job...that's a problem. It's too bad that Paul Johnson is a one-trick pony. :(

agree 2 million %. I am probably the biggest 24 year old ND fan, but Charlie may not be the answer. It's to the point where I just want to cry having to call my old man, who is on the road, to tell him ND lost to Syracuse. On the other hand, if we fired him...where the hell do we go??? NOWHERE! NOBODY is going to take this job...I dont care if its Meyer's "dream job"...he's not taking it. All we can do is either shut up and take it and see what happens next year(which is the only logical outcome at this point, financially or pertaining to the program because a new coach is just setting us back), or we can all bitch and whine about it and nothing be done because face it...we're on a message board, who the fuck are we?

Recruites... Here's the thing, it doesn't matter who you recruite if you can't lead them to the field. Yes, going through coaches like this really sucks. On the other hand would you rather keep somebody just because we think there is no alternative. How about TCU's coach. He's taken the bottom of the barrell and made them yearly winers. How about KU and the big guy. Heck, he won the Orange bowl with a bunch of players Washington wouldn't take as walkons. I agree Notre Dame has the talent, but they are being wasted and ruined...

Paul Johnson???? Like I said, NO ONE wants this job. If they did, they would have thrown their hat in the ring when Charlie got the job.

Found this on another board and thought it was interesting, just some promises charlie has made that he hasnt lived up to. They said it was a breach of contract, but idk.

- "You will have a hard working, disciplined, NASTY football team." 2004

- "We will NEVER lose to Michigan State again under my watch." 2006

- "If I don't win a national championship by my fifth year I should be fired." 2005

- "We are going to pound it." 2008

- "We will have a significant schematic on-field advantage." 2004

- "THere is no reason why we shouldn't win at least 8-9 games this year." 2008

Found the third quote quite interesting. One more year = win it or your done for charlie.

I agree that making these bold predictions first showed the fan base that he is Serious. He was and did raise the bar of coaches, recruiters, players. I played from 1995-99 as the kicker and scout fullback. Under Holtz, he had A long chart called the plan to win. If we all did our parts there was no way we could lose. The very last thing on the plan was " Don't Flinch". that attitude that he had reassured us no matter how bad the situation, we will still win. That game was against Northwestern in 1995. I made a 38yd fg, but I screwed up the PAT and I missed. This was the 1st nd game I had been to and I was responsible for the biggest upset in decades. No one knew Northwestern would go 10-1 and win the big ten.
This game was not our finest hour, but we regrouped, went 9-2 and went to the BCS Orange Bowl.As a team, we believed in each other and we had a decent season.
Charlie Weis will field a better team next year than this year. This team, with support, will improve. Each year I could name 20 teams who can win the BCS title. Thats the new reality

I remember that game. The wildcats offensive line were some mean nasty roided up cats.
That was Gary Barnett?

This team is at a turning point. Like Bama of last year this team could easily go south...or not.

I HOPE Weis will turn point that arrow north and we will lose no less than 9 games next year.

If he does not win 9, then he should be fired without hesitation.

Hey Love,
Will you please show me the 3 games we should lose in CW's 5th year with 4 top 10 recruiting classes. 7 Home games. IF and I mean IF he gets a 5th year, he better win 10 and go to the BCS. NO FREAKIN EXCUSES! How many years are you giving him on this reclamation project, 10 years?? Come on, this is freakin ND, and that does not stand for North Dakota State.

I don't have a list of three...you cannot predict the future. But 3 losses is max...even then it would put him on the bubble.

Recruits like it's fantasy football, coaches like he's playing Madden. There's the soon-to-be latest ex-Irish HC in a nutshell.

Okay, I've had a few hours since the game to cool my jets. I voted yes on this pole and I stand by that vote. One thing that ND is going to have to do: find a top shelf head coach BEFORE firing CW. I hate to say "use" him but we can not hang ourselves out to dry.

Looking back at my posts in the game thread, I'm disappointed in myself. I won't defend the posts because they were pretty crude and I've wanted CW to work out. I wanted an alum to be at the healm. I want ND to win each and every year. Maybe I'm disappointed because I bought into all the hype. I bought the SI special edition from a few years back....it was the "Return to Glory" issue. I had high, high hopes for CW but those hopes have been dashed. Last year was, if you can ever say it without choking, excusable. This year, however, is not. We lost second half leads on a continual basis, we played down to the lesser opponents' levels and, excepting BC, played up to the better opponents' levels. That is a sign of poor coaching. The Florida's, USC's, Texas' of the world beat the shit out of the bad teams and, usually, win the tough games against good teams. We have done neither.

If CW stays the AD is going to have to insist that Latina does not. The offensive line has been our bane three years running and CW can't stick with Latina; he has not got the job done.

I'm sad for CW because I know that he wanted the job and he wanted like hell to succeed. The recruiting is where it needs to be, the schedule is manageable but the results, oh the results, are not where they should be.

Sorry, Charlie.
