Stole this thread topic from the ND football Subreddit. What was your favorite moment during this past season?

For me it was strip sack and Leonard’s hurdle against UGA in the Sugar Bowl. I’ve lived the majority of my life (I started kindergarten in August of 94) watching the Irish go to “big bowls” against the likes of UGA and just being outmatched and humiliated. I know in the grand scheme of things bowl games and bowl wins are meaningless & know they are just games to continue on in the playoffs but seeing us play in the Sugar Bowl, in January, against the SEC champions was other than winning a National Title the culmination of everything I’ve wanted to see as an Irish fan in my life. All those blowouts in bowls from my adolescence and adult life I had to endure, the Oregon State Loss in 01, LSU destroying us in 07, the Ohio State game in 2016, the playoff bowl loses against Clemson & Bama, then finally the one time we should’ve won but blew it against Ok St in 2022 just kept having my feel so empty that I couldn’t ever see my team win THOSE much less a Nattie to finally see us get that win meant the world to me. I certainly hope I get to see a championship in my lifetime but just seeing this was something I’ve wanted to see for years and FINALLY I got to see it. Got to see it over the champs over the mighty SEC so without being just a straight up hater you can’t discredit it made it that much sweeter. Thats mine what are yours?

My son and I went to the Indiana game. Just seeing the atmosphere of that game, in Notre Dame stadium, was amazing.

My wife and I went to the Georgia game. When we ran back the 2nd half kickoff I actually started to believe we were going to beat the SEC champs in a major bowl. Felt so surreal and beautiful. My beer buzz didn’t hurt.

Favorite moment: X Watts staring down/talking shit to the USC sideline on his pick 6.

Second favorite: Loves 98 yard run against Indiana. I was sitting at the bar at Strongwater Tavern at Sapphire Falls resort Universal Studios Orlando. Devin McCourty of all people was getting a drink at the bar next to me. I start hooting and hollering. He stared at me, then walked away. Still makes me smile thinking about it.

Love's run against psu.

I never thought he would top laying the lumber on the SCum LB and then hurdling him, but..... ya know, I always wondered what it would have been like to be a seahawks fan watching Lynch run over the saints defense.

Now I do.

That whole Sugar Bowl was so emotional for me, I was nervous pacing around my house then when we had that kickoff come back I was believing so hard just hoping it wasn’t taken away from us one more time. After that hurdle as we ran out clock I started getting tears in my eyes. Also was cool having my phone blow up with friends, old classmates from college & high school, & teammates who know how much I’ve wanted to see this made that day that much sweeter. Sweet as sugar you could say.

So many good choices as mentioned above. Personally I’d say it was the Texas A&M game since I was there. The atmosphere was electric—-and I also was able to tailgate with some of my ND roommates whom I hadn’t seen in some time.

"Jeremiyah Love....breaks free!"

For a single play, the Love run against Indiana. Not a huge Sean McDonough fan, but that was a fabulous call on a spectacular play. While I would agree the Georgia and Penn St victories overall were much more important in the grand scheme of things, for me, that play got me in the mindset that for the first time in 30 years, an Irish squad could beat any team in college football.

you can’t take away the fact that he will forever have the first touchdown of the expanded College Football playoffs.

The JLove run in the Stanford game where he made it around the left edge and swatted the trailing LB and burst for a 40-yd TD.
It was that point where I was sure we were going to really miss him after the 25-26 season.

I also hate Stanford (spit).

This past season was great, there were so many memories and great plays.

My favorite moment was the loss to NIU, there were so many questions after that game, I was at the game and I felt that NIU took ND's lunch money.

After that game ND responded, they used that NIU loss as leverage, they got better each game, and I think that loss made them a better team.

Christian Gray’s trio of game winning plays- the PBU against A&M, the pick 6 against SC, and PSU INT. Not necessarily game winners, but they essentially sealed or led to victor each game.

Love’s Indiana touchdown run is a close second having been in the stadium for that. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced ND stadium explode like that.

The sequence of the forced fumble, then TD against Georgia before halftime brought me to tears screaming profanity at my TV alone in my living room pumping my fists. Prolly the legit first time I thought we can win a Natty

A you tuber would earn thousands of likes if he put together a top 50 plays list from this season alone. And I'd watch it probably 50 times before spring ball 😂

Not a moment as much as a journey. My son, Brady (yes we named him after 10), was born in April. Going through photos I have pictures of the Texas A&M game, Northern Illinois (he looks so confused bc of how I am behaving), and then pics of us watching the natty. Great ride

Unfortunately this leaves out the IU game, but a fun watch nonetheless.

Great thread…

Mine is a little more personal. I hadn’t been on campus for years and finally went back this season. My wife and I both went to Miami (OH) so we went to that game. The moment RL through the deep pass to Beaux Collins for the TD was the moment I felt like RL could be enough of a passer to get ND to the playoffs. The guy sitting - standing - next to me even made a comment about that throw giving him some RL confidence. Up to that point, the crowd was ruthlessly booing the team, Marcus, and Riley. I thought the season was going to fall apart. Then that pass happened. The attitude of the stadium changed. The team became more energetic. It was the beginning of the love fest we would all have for RL - even if we didn’t know it at that time.
