There was a "political" group that held a bit of an unpopular position with some (the establishment), as it was for unconditional and unfettered Irish Republicanism, and the only thing the WASPISH Anglophile apologists could think to counter superior intellectual arguments, or are angry and potentially violent attitudes was to call members (a) "bogtrotter(s)" in editorial publications, or anonymously posted and also unsigned letters. So years ago I took it as a badge of honor. This is really framed by the fact that this was such a backwater to the "troubles" at the time.
