And in my view this Juve team is significantly stronger than the one that lost the Champs League final a couple years ago. It's really impressive how they have rebuilt on the fly.

Me too, they were my first soccer passion in the late 90's due to a girlfriend whose family was from Glasgow. They might as well be playing in the Slovak Super Liga with the amount of competition and coverage they're getting. Especially when they haven't been doing great lately in the Champions League.

I saw (I think) something which made me wonder about Sturridge --- perhaps nothing. On all the goals by his teammates, the first five guys on the congratulations scene were: Lallana, Firmino, Coutino, Wynaldum, and (usually) Can. Never Sturridge. I could see this "reticence" out of the Old Man (Milner), but all the attackers seem very happy when the other guy scores. After the match, BIG hugs by Klopp for all those guys --- perfunctory looking one for Sturridge. Who's "happy" and who's not on Liverpool? (Obviously everyone's happy about the win, I mean who's happy to be IN this team?}

My worthless opinion about building a better team next year:

A). as has been discussed, this team has very little physicality and it really shows. It seems to me the only reason they get beat by poor teams --- LFC gets shut out and the opponent pounds in a set piece.
I'd be beating every league scouting for a physical killer/warrior to replace Lovran.

B). With one "tough guy in the air", both Matip and Firmino and even Can would be helped. But I believe LFC needs one more tough guy hammering the meathouse near goal. Since the (Lallana/Coutinho// Firmino// Mane) little guys attack is so good, that would mean a midfielder or someone in Clyne or Wynaldum or Can's position. This will be viewed as insanity, but because no universe exists wherein a player like Vidal is hiding underemployed, I'd take a Fellaini clone --- yeh heresy. But give me the wins and I'll apologize after the game. As roughnecks as guys like Vidal and Fellaini are, they are total team guys. Is there a "dangerous youngster" out there somewhere?

Ahh the offseason, been waiting for this for the past couple months, but now that it's here, I have no idea what to do with myself. Shaping up to be City's most exciting summer ever, as we finally get to lose most of the deadweight in the squad.

Our biggest weakness is our fullbacks, and would you look at that, Clichy, zabs (the fucking legend), and sagna are as good as gone. Looks like kyle walker is almost a done deal to city, and we may very well be on the verge of signing fabinho from monaco, who can play both in midfield and at right back. Pep has to love that versatility. Alex Sandro is our biggest want at left back, and would be an immense signing. Idk if Juventus will even listen to offers, but we have the money, and there's no reason to fuck around in the transfer market anymore. We have the coach, now we have to do everything we can to give him the players he needs.

We'll definitely bring in a new keeper, and right now it seems that man will be ederson from benfica. If we can fix the fullback and keeper problem, and keep vinny kompany healthy all year, there's no reason we shouldn't be a formidable team next year. Can't wait.

Money is no object to us. We've wasted time going after guys like bony, fernando, delph, mangala, etc as plan Bs and Cs and it's left us with one league cup in the past 3 years. We've been ignoring the fullback situation for 3 years in a row now and it's bitten us in the ass. We can either try to save money by going after plan Bs and Cs again and have an endless cycle of finishing somewhere in the top 4, or say enough is enough, we have pep, we have the money, time to bring in exactly who pep wants. Otherwise, why the fuck did we hire pep? And you don't get extra points at the end of the season for having a low net spend.

Btw, congrats on your season. 86 is usually enough to get the job done.

I agree, Man City need to fix the fullback and keeper situation and they will be in great shape for next year.

I feel almost the same way about my Reds, at least w/r/t the fullbacks. Liverpool have many other needs, but for me the fullbacks should be top priority. But I don't think Klopp sees it quite that way. Looks like it will be Milner again at left back, with Ryan Sessegnon coming in from Fulham to deputize/apprentice.

He's a striker's striker. Never happy except when he is scoring. That's actually a good quality for a striker. Still, I think he's on his way this summer.

Sessegnon is still just 17, what a massive prospect. Fulham may very well have no choice but listen to offers from liverpool/spurs/whoever else is interested. However, he's just 17, I'd like to see him stay at Fulham one more year. He has a great thing going for him there, wouldn't want to see his development interrupted. Plus, it's not like he's at an age where staying in the championship instead of going to the prem is a bad career choice. Most 17 year olds aren't playing competition anywhere close to the championship.

I think what happens with Liverpool will depend wholly on what Coutihno does and if he stays. If he stays, we need two out and out strikers, a true left back, a right back to challenge Cline and at least two physical CBs. Sturridge is gone and Origi is not a starter. He just isnt and seems to suffer from what Jozy suffers from. A big physical guy who cant impact a game for large spells.

If Coutihno leaves, Liverpool may need to overhaul the squad to handle the PL and the CL. They most definitely do not have the depth and quality in midfield to go deep into the CL.
