It is an interesting scenario. We opted our clause of a year deal and he opted his clause of testing free agency. Since he had such a poor batting average a year or two ago (can't remember which it was) he is rated as a B player instead of an A. Which gives the cubs a 2nd round draft pick this coming draft. As far as Zambrano, I highly doubt he is a Cub next year. Does that mean his salary is off our books? Absolutely not! We will be paying him to play whether its for us or someone else. Lets just hope its for someone else. That leaves Soriano. Who I regretfully say will most likely retire a Cub.
