Anyone else getting up at 7:30 a.m. to watch Spurs v Man. City? This should be an intense game, because Spurs finished 4th last year (the cutoff for the Champions League) and Man City finished 5th. This weekend has 3 great games lined up...

Tottenham Hotspur v. Manchester City - Saturday, 7:30 a.m. ESPN2
Liverpool v. Arsenal - Sunday 10 a.m. (? or 11) Fox Soccer Channel

And then, my personal favorite...

Manchester United v. Newcastle United - Monday, 3 p.m. ESPN2

I can't stand Man. Utd., so hopefully Newcastle can win at Old Trafford for the first time in 38 years. Any other soccer fans out there? This is just as big as ND football kick off for me.

I am a soccer fan, just not to your level. I'm certainly interested in the results.

I can't imagine what I'll be like on the night of Sept. 3 if this is me on the eve of the EPL season. Just in case there are any other fans out there who'd like to chime in...I'd just like to get a few predictions out there (barring these players are healthy).

Biggest Surprise: Andy Carroll, Newcastle United
Biggest Dissappointment: Frank Lampard, Chelsea
Come Back Player from last season: Fernando Torres, Liverpool (albeit he was injured most of the year)
Un-noticed star until May: Andrei Arshavin, Arsenal
Golden Boot: Wayne Rooney, Manchester United
EPL Champion: Manchester United
2nd - 4th: Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool
5-6: Spurs, Fulham/Birmingham City (all depends on their attack)

I'm more into international soccer, as I find playing for your country brings much more passion. Just my opinion, but I will be watching the matches.

I agree....national pride is what it's all about in the long run (e.g the World Cup is as big as it gets). But at the same time, it's exciting to see the 38 games and know that each player is fighting for their spot on their international team. Completely understand your stance, though.

Are we talking about Arena Football? It's pretty cool watching guys get shoved into the stands.....and what's with those tiny goal posts??? I'm not sure I could walk through them let alone kick a ball through them.

Frank Lampard is always a disappointment to me. He find himself in the right spot at the right times a lot, and only about half of the time (if that) he gets a decent shot on goal.

Go ManU. Biggest surprise is Chicharito.

Not a big soccer fan - but when it's on I always watch Arsenal play.

Spent 6 months in Australia for school a few years back - met an English kid who would get up early to watch Sox games if I got up to watch Arsenal play.

Go the mighty Gunners! (I guess)

I'm not a big sleeper so I was up early and caught the game. Man City's goalie was on fire, and saved the game for them. Without him they lose at least 3-0.

That said, I follow La Liga much more than the EPL. Also, because they are my hometown team, I follow the Galaxy as well...

im not a big soccer fan. But im a HUGE world cup fan. A co-worker and I are planning to take the pilgrimage to Rio de Janiero in 2014. I think seeing the world cup, espeically in brazil, will be something i'd talk about the rest of my life. (as long as I make it our of Rio without getting raped, mugged, or assaulted - haha)

I have gotten into the MLS this year with Buddle and the Galaxy playing so well... before this year I shat on soccer from the America's...

I keep up with EPL (was glad to see Chelsea take it last year) but I really REALLY wish we could get more SPL games over here... AT LEAST show the Old Firm games... ESPN said they were gonna do it a few years back but never did...

Love me some Celtic

oh and hope man city blast hotspur... Robbie Keane can go fuck himself.

I'm a Newcastle fan as well, however, I pay more attention to the SPL (Celtic, more specifically) than I do the EPL. Definitely excited though!

Was it 90,000 at the Rose Bowl last week for the exhibition with Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Madrid of Spain?
