If anyone has the time to post some updates and commentary on the E3 expo, I'd appreciate it.

I'm going to be following, I'll try to update what I can. Live coverage on Spike TV, so you can set your DVRs if you'd like.

1230PM EST is the XBOXOne. Let's see how Microsoft responds to their previous unveiling. The backlash for the XBOXOne has been pretty substantial, and Microsoft has to alleviate concerns or they risk starting off well behind PS4 in the next great console war.

I only caught the last 20 minutes or so. I seen half of the Madden part, then seen UFC, FIFA, Battlefield, and the unveiling of Mirrors Edge. If anyone has every heard of that game, apparently it was a "big" unveiling.

Sorry I can not give any great specifics, but all of the games look awesome. Then again I am not the "best" gamer to know exactly what is wanted and needed to enhance gameplay.

The only main thing I seen as a new feature would be in Battlefield there will be a mode called "Commander" where you essentially tell your group where to go and what to do. This mode can also be accessed from a Tablet. I think I got all of that right.

All i have to say is whoever is in charge of sonys presentation tonight did a terrible job. Its been boring, there was a guy with a very thick accent that was hard to understand, the games look so much less fun compared to the xbox one. And the coolest game coming up IMO is Destiny is going to be released for Xbox as well. As much as i thought the PS4 would be excellent it is disappointing so far

Havent seen GTA or heard much yet. Playstation not having restrictions on games is a big thing though compared to xbox one

PS4 presentation is killing it right now. Watch dogs looks amazing, and AC4 looks sooooo sick. Cannot wait for that game.

Their presentation got much better as it went on. Destiny is going to be huge. PS4 will cost 400 and xbox one 500

Sony just owned. Xbox One just lost. 399 vs 499 and PS4 is far and away the better console.

Prolly not yet. I'd guess it'll be everywhere tomorrow. Sony seriously just took a huge sh*t on Microsoft.

I know Microsoft looks like the bad guy right now, but I'm still going to be buying the Xbox one. Microsoft is doing the whole no used games for a pretty basic reason, on the Xbox one you are going to install each game you buy. Meaning that after you put the disk in the first time you can then play the game from that point forward with no disk. This is a really cool feature combined with the multi tasking CPU because you can now switch from game to game in your collection seamlessly. The problem for Microsoft, is since you won't need the disk you could simply give it to you friend they download it, give it to their friend download, ect ect ect. This would drastically cut into sales.

My other thought on this topic is that although Sony comes out of E3 smelling like roses, the decision to allow or not allow used games really is not up to them. It is the game developers that decide how they want to code these games that require Internet access. So if I am a game developer and my new title is making 35% more on the Xbox one because people are not just buying/borrowing used copies. I would just consolidated my resources and only publish Xbox exclusives. Sonys response to that circumstance will certainly be to discontinue used game. So it's really just a matter of time until Sony follows suite.

I'm sorry but the bold bit is just preposterous. You're going to alienate an entire revenue stream to make a point about used games and DRM? I would love to see a publisher do that, it would be so entertaining. What games do devs make you have a connection for outside of multiplayer, MMOs? PS has more exclusive content than XBOX by a long way. While I agree that the wave of the future will be digital, with no discs, that isn't happening yet, because there is a whole other market you're forgetting; retailers. The decision about used games was completely up to Sony, because Microsoft chose not to honor the method of the past, and they are getting destroyed for it. Sony gave the people what they wanted, planted their feet, and are reaping the rewards. I was up in the air before yesterday, but $100 cheaper with used games and no mandatory connections or Kinect listening has declared me for the PS4. Although, you have to pay for PS+ now like XBox Live.

It's not that you are alienating the ps4 market, the game developer would just be selling to the more profitable market. While also beginning to set precedent for the future. Don't get me wrong I don't think this will have an effect early on. And it's clear that Sony is riding a wave of good karma. But I do think that this change is inevitable in this generation of consols.

And to that bolded part, I really don't understand that mentality. With the hardware Microsoft is putting in place how could they keep the model the same as it used to be? What incentive is there for anyone to buy the games anymore? Just find a friend or neighbor who owns the game, borrow it for 15 minutes then have it forever. Microsoft chose to do right by the publishers they work with, and make sure they continue to make a profit on the sales of their games.

Edit: I forgot to address the no disks comment. First I think you misunderstood what I was saying, I don't mean there are not going to be disks. There will be disks, they will just be useless to the first consumer after it is in their machine for the first time. Secondly no I didn't forget about retailers, Microsofts model is better for retailers, because they will be selling more first had copies of Xbox games.

That only works if there are a comparable number of XBox One and PS4 owners though. Sure they get a piece of the secondary market for the XBox but if PS4 has a significant advantage in number of households that completely swallows the secondary market cash advantage.

I do wonder how much of the development effort must be devoted to rendering a game compatible with another console. If an extra 10% or 20% of development time gets your game ready for PS4 as well as the XBox One then it's costing the developers money to stick with one format.

Basically, I don't think the rewards of implementing DRM are worth the cost to Microsoft on this go-round.
