I can say with absolute certainty that DraftKings pays taxes and issues 1099s to players. I don't think it's that. I think it's that there is a genuine belief that it should be regulated similar to financial markets.

That is exactly it. They should be regulated. I have heard many stories about insider moves made. IE setting rosters after the games have started for certain users.

Needs to be stopped until regulated. Seems to be some shady elements to it and the rake is stupid high.

The rake is only 10%. That isn't crazy high, IMO. But your other point is valid. These guys should accept they need to be regulated and maybe even pretend to invite it. They're getting beat up as badly in the public eye as they are by state lawmakers. They need to embrace regulation for long term good of their own business.

Agree. I still believe there is shady insider moves allowed.

i have many tech friends who think there are plenty of "fake entries" as well.

bottom line is it is gambling, plain and simple.

I consider anything that might get rid of the fucking ads to be a blessing!

Exactly the way I feel. Stop force feeding me on every type of media stream. If the ads weren't everywhere, I would probably consider playing. Now I don't play just because there are so many ads and I don't want to support a business that bothers me that much.

Edit: I feel like I am now the old man shaking his fist at everything.

Has anyone on this board won a good chunk of money on one of these sites?

And does anyone know what strings are attached to their matching initial deposit promises? Someone suggested you are credited 5% of all bets which seems ridiculously low.

It's gambling. Plain and simple. Not sure how they try to hide behind saying its a game of skill because you study a bunch of stats. Good sports bettors do the same.

They will "match" up to $200, and yes, every time you make a bet, 5% is released into your total. It is genius on their part, and keeps people around way longer than they would have liked, making it impossible to blow your load and call it a day.

I've been using FD for the last month. It is wildly addicting, and takes a very solid effort to win. I started an account to do CFB and NFL, but quickly have added NBA and NHL to my repertoire. I put $200 in, and after about 50 or so tourneys ranging from $1 to $5 am at $175. The most I won in one tourney was $25, and most lost in one was $5. I mostly do $5 ones, but some of the $1-2 ones with huge pots are fun.

You either have to be an MIT level stat geek who does DFS as a job to win the big ones, or catch lightning in a bottle to finish just below those guys. Many players will enter thousands of entries into uncapped tourneys, and the average Joe literally has no chance of ever winning the top prize.

The best chance a person like us has to turn a profit on FD is to enter numerous 50-50 tourneys, where the odds of winning are high, but the payout very low. That is boring as all hell though to bet $1.00 and win $1.60, so I play the tourneys with big prizes.

Think of it as a casino. Don't think about the probability, think about the POSSIBILITY. The site is way more fun that way. At the end of the day, it is 100% gambling, and the outcomes way more out of your control than you think.
