DC is wealthy because of the lobbyists and entities who need to pitch to the government , in the year 2025 functioning adults should be able to understand that and not think Joe Dickhead from some random Oregon county is the reason why.

There is no shot you’re calling me dumbo with that sentence structure. When you finish school you’ll find it was quite useful in helping to write coherently.

I think people like the idea of getting rid of waste and dumb spending. It's the way they are going about it that people are concerned about.
Agree. They’re use to all of the talk and not much happening.

What’s frustrating is that both sides know about the same problems, and both sides do nothing but obstruct when they’re not in power because they can’t let the other side win.

So true. There are plenty of posts on social media showing Dems in the past calling for the same stuff that Trump is doing right now. Trump is the first one to really go after the problem. People are whining because he's not using the same methods as all past presidencies which got us no where. It's like trying to pull off a band-aid very slowly compared to ripping it off and being done with it.

This is an idiotic angle...unsurprising that you posted it.

1.
I think people like the idea of getting rid of waste and dumb spending. It's the way they are going about it that people are concerned about.
2. Using your idiotic metaphor, if you rip the bandaid off a massive wound because you feel it isn't effective you sure as shit better have a better bandage option ready to put on the wound right away...or you know..you've just made the situation worse. What exactly is the ready made plan that Trump/MAGA has to replace these programs that are essential? Last we heard, there were "concepts" of plans for things but I have yet to see what Trump is going to replace this "bandaid" with.

And pretty much all
"Pretty much" doing a lot of heavy lifting in this statement...seeing as the only reason that they are is because a judge stopped the cuts..so it's not as though some of these are being funded because Trump's admin wants them to be. If it were up to Trump they wouldn't be.

If the funding that you say will be "pretty much all" saved was not saved by a judge and it lead to millions of deaths due to AIDS around the globe, would you be ok with it?

"Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Monday the Trump administration had finished its six-week purge of programs of the six-decade-old U.S. Agency for International Development, cutting 83% of them, and said he would move the remaining aid programs under the State Department."
Hours later, a federal judge said President Donald Trump had overstepped his authority in shutting down most foreign assistance, saying the administration could no longer simply sit on the billions of dollars that Congress had provided for foreign aid. But Judge Amir H. Ali stopped short of ordering Trump officials to use the money to revive the thousands of terminated program contracts.

But Ali declined the request from nonprofit groups and businesses to revive the canceled contracts for foreign assistance work around the world, saying it was up to the administration to make decisions on specific contracts.

The Trump administration gave almost no details on which aid and development efforts abroad it spared as it mass-emailed contract terminations to aid groups and other USAID partners by the thousands within days earlier this month

1 child dying is too many!
The subtext of this statement by people who support Trump and Musk is "1 white American child dying is too many"

They don't give a shit if the child is a minority here or lives overseas. They are more than fine seeing them die.

but you know..that's fascism for you.

Aren’t you supposed to be in a camp already?

We can’t afford to feed the world obviously, with our debt. They’ll have to be self reliant now. Take it up with all the DC money laundering politicians and their kickback NGO’s.

lead to millions of deaths

That's if you a) believe in that preposterous supposition by the NYT b) believe that the US will cease those righteous aid programs to combat AIDS and malaria (which Rubio has continuously stated will continue to receive funding) and c) you believe that it is the US and the US alone's responsibility to continue funding these programs in perpetuity and that no other nation can find the money to save those "millions" of lives

They keep full records of all people that have received Social Security. Dead people aren't getting checks.
In summary then, the Social Security Administration is not perfect – it makes some payment errors and does not have the date of death on some of its old records. And because of the lack of death dates, I’m not surprised that the Musk team found many records where the beneficiaries ages would be 100+. But those records provide no indication of waste, fraud, and abuse. In fact, the people who one would think should be receiving the checks are the ones getting the checks, and the Inspector General could find only 13 checks going to those over 112.
