I have heard from a good source that Notre Dame released Demetrius Jones from his scholarship and that Ohio State has offered him a scholarship to come to Columbus and he is seriously considering it. Anybody else hear of this as well?

I haven't heard that, but I did read somewhere that he went to the MSU-ND game yesterday and was prevented from going on the field by one of the ushers.

I'll do some digging and see if I can find anything on what you mentioned. That would suck.

Yeah dude, that would really suck. I heard he was there at the game as well to show the team support. That kinda struck me as odd.

Wouldn't Jones transferring to OSU go against his agreement with ND to get released from his scholarship? If I remember correctly, the agreement stated that he can go to any school as long as that school is not on any ND schedule in the foreseeable future.

Yes, that's what the agreement reportedly says. But when is OSU on ND's schedule?

I'm not certain. Do we play Ohio State in the next 3-4 years?

It's probably not against the agreement.

It looks like he'll be able to transfer to OSU if he wants.

If he really wants to get to play QB, and actually PLAY, does he think he's good enough to start at OSU, but not ND???

After what he did last week ND should let him transfer to his choice of Anchorage State, Puerto Rico Prep. or Lake Chipawa Tech

All of those have their upsides...

I mean, they sound scenic and all...

What will piss me off is if he goes to OSU and decides that it wouldn't be so bad playing wide receiver or safety or something like that. If he sticks with the Q.B. thing whatever. But If I ever see him playing another position other than Q.B. for OSU, I'll hate him forever. Then He will be a traitor in my eyes!

Where ever he's going I wish he'd just do it already and quit being a distraction. I don't know how may of you saw this, or how true it is but it certainly doesn't put him in a very good light.

Subway Domer: A Chat With Demetrius

Plus, in a recent article about Cris Harper's Official Visit to ND this past weekend he mentioned that when he went out at night with some of the guys that they bumped into DD and that he hung out with them for a while. He also mention that DD didn't bash ND, and had a lot of good things to say about it.

Then again if he had negative things to say about ND too and I was the recruit I don't think I would've mentioned that to the reporter that was writing the article.

i dont know if i really believe what was said there. Think about it, why is DJ wearing either a jersey or shirt with his own number on it? When he doesnt even go to school there? That just doesnt make a whole lot of sense. Maybe I am making too much of that, but frankly im not convinced the picture there is even of him.

Well I have heard in multiple places that he planned on being there while wearing a jersey with his number on it. I've also heard that he tried to go down on the sidelines earier in the game but one of the ushers wouldn't allow him access. So I do think it's probably him, but who knows how accurate the conversation was, but either way I don't think he needs to be interacting with visiting recruits.

There ya go ...

There ya go ...

It's official: Jones to UC

BY BILL KOCH | BKOCH@ENQUIRER.COM

<!-- END: Story Chat Refer --> <!--ARTICLE BODY TEXT--> A month ago, Demetrius Jones was getting ready to start his first game at quarterback for Notre Dame.

On Thursday afternoon he walked into University of Cincinnati football coach Brian Kelly’s office and told him that he wanted to play for the Bearcats.

“A whole bunch of things took place that weren’t planned,” Jones said. “That’s the way it goes."

Jones, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore from Chicago, was the starting quarterback for the Fighting Irish’s season-opening loss to Georgia Tech.

He completed 1-of-3 passes in that game for four yards and ran 12 times for 28 yards before getting benched. He decided to leave Notre Dame after he lost his starting job for the Sept. 8 Penn State game.

“It’s a great school,” Jones said of Notre Dame, “a tremendous atmosphere. It’s just unfortunate the way it worked out.”

UC coach Brian Kelly said he first learned of Jones’ interest in UC 48 hours ago “when I got a paper on my desk. It was a release from Notre Dame giving us permission to talk to him.”

Kelly had a prior relationship with Jones, whom he recruited out of Morgan Park High School in Chicago while he was the coach at Central Michigan.

When he contacted Jones, he suggested that Jones visit the UC campus to meet the coaches, check out the facilities and explore the academic opportunities before making a decision. Jones was at UC’s practice Wednesday.

“My whole point of going to Notre Dame was the same reason I committed here,” Jones said, “the atmosphere on campus, they’ve got top-notch facilities. They’ve got a head coach who’s been coaching for 16 years, and the offense. I can put some of my best qualities on display. I just think it was a perfect fit.”

Jones was a Parade prep All-American at Morgan Park and was rated No. 33 on USA Today’s list of the top 100 prep players in the country. He was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl prep all-star game.

“It’s a new day for Cincinnati football,” Kelly said. “We see ourselves as a national recruiting school. That’s how we see ourselves, that we can get these kids to come and play at the University of Cincinnati.

“He’s athletic. He can run it and he can throw it. In this day and age, we see that position requires more than a guy who can just drop back (and throw). He has to be able to do things with his feet.”

Because UC has no scholarships available, Jones will have to pay his own way at UC, but only for fall quarter.

Kelly said UC has four or five seniors who are scheduled to graduate at the end of fall quarter. When one of their scholarships becomes available, it will go to Jones, who will have to sit out this year under NCAA rules for transfers.

Jones will face plenty of competition at UC. Junior Dustin Grutza returns next year, along with sophomore Tony Pike, sophomore Craig Carey and freshmen Chazz Anderson and Zach Collaros, both of whom are being redshirted this year.

In addition, senior Ben Mauk, the current starter, plans to apply for a medical hardship waiver that could give him another year of eligibility next season.

Wow...why would he go to a school with even more competition then there is at ND. If Ben Mauk gets a medical hardship waiver Jones will not see the field at all next year. Chazz Anderson is a very talented QB from Pickerington (OH) Central with the same skill sets as Jones. I do not see Jones in anything but a back-up roll at Cincy but I wish him the best of luck....just seems like another bad move for this young man.

Just talked to a buddy he said Zach Collaros is also a Dual threat QB....
