What does everyone think about the new clock rules in college football? They said the reason for the change is to shorten the length of the game.I really haven't noticed a big difference this year at all in the duration of the games. To me, these rules are F'n retarted and I think the whole ESPN on ABC slogan is also retarted....the way we are treated in the polls I don't have much respect for ABC anyway. I think the rules and regulations in College Football continue to get worse...

They don't apply to NBC, that's for sure.

I think these rules will be amended. The clock starting on the change of possession is stupid. I still like the concept, but it is kind of a right size, wrong shape deal right now.

Needs some tweaking.

I think with shorter game times, NBC took advantage of that extra time and included more commercials.

coaches need to focus more on time management and timeout management. I'd rather take a 5 yrd penalty then take a time out late in the game. Or maybe if the rules are going to be changed that they go back to the old way inside of 2 mintues in the 4th.

This rule is absolutely terrible. It has'nt shortened the games whatsoever. Maybe a couple of minutes here or there. However, it has affected the end of alot of games this year. The end of games are the most exciting part for most fans (unless it's a blowout) and this stupid clock rule is really hampering these kids. There's enough pressure on these kids with 80,000 people, national tv, media, and alumni counting on them to pull out the final drive with 55 seconds left. Now they start the fuckin clock as soon as the ball is set. This is bullshit! Let the games last as long as they need to. As a football fan, i will tell you that in my experience the longer games are the more entertaining and exciting they are, so leave them the fuck alone!!! P.S. Sorry for the foul language, but this rule really sucks. I hate it!!!

I think the most likely adjustment. Is to either take it out completely. Or make it so that, in the last 2-3 minutes of a game, the rule doesn't apply.

But there is no way it stays this way next year.

I've expressed my feeling about this numerous times on this board. I even blasted it on the OFFICIAL THREAD TO VENT!

You know, I work hard, I don't ask for much, my family is not wealthy, I only look forward to a few things each year, one of them being 12 Saturdays and hopefully 1 bowl game of Notre Dame football each year. Not an outlandish request, and dammit when they start shorting my games, while increasing the commercials it flat out pisses me off.

Face it, they tricked us. Just like when you go to the gas pump today, hell 2.19 seems like a bargain after nearly paying $3 all summer.

What's next? 10 ounce beers, 7 inning baseball games, OK I sound like my Dad now, but c'mon.
