I think you guys are " overestimating " the security dayne has with this job. His performance against Navy was nothing short of horrendus, even though he does complete passes ,many times he is missing the "wide open guy" to complete a pass thats shorter to a more covered reciever. Bottom line, Dayne has not made kelly's spread "go".
Kelly was about as mad as i have ever seen a coach at a player after Dayne's second pick against navy. Dayne was playing better in the opening games then he is now,any way you slice that it is "bad news". Regression by your developing QB is absolutely not what you want to see, especially on a team that is going nowhere right now.
Kelly has called this Tulsa game the most important game he has ever coached in. Yes. Crist will start, but mark my words, if dayne lays another egg, throws one more inexcusable pick, or kills another couple of important drives with "gross inaccuracy", Kelly is not going to down with the ship because dayne cannot deliver. He will make a change to rees, rees is a completely underestimated player by everyone but coach Kelly. He has a very quick release, he is very accurate, and he has a very high degree of comfort and understanding with the spread! I hope dayne plays lights out against tulsa, i have absolutely no confidence that will be the case , if he struggles, expect to see Tommy Rees sooner rather then later. Coach kelly has given dayne every opportunity if he blows it again the next man in will be the call and it won't take 20 mistakes, a few very bad plays and decisions and a game we look like we might lose will be enough for Kelly to roll the dise with the guy that likes the spread better then dayne, the much malingned and highly underrated Tommy Rees.
