Wow. 32-game hitting streak now as he went 3-3 with 2 homers tonight. I'm both a Red Sox and Marlins fan, and this guy became my favorite player the last couple years with the Marlins. Was so pissed he got traded, but glad he's gone on a tear. He definitely is not someone who you would imagine having such a long hitting streak. Guy is the man. I know most wont care until he reaches 40 games, but I figured I'd start the thread now while I have the chance in case he goes 0-fer one of these nights.

how many more does he need for the record? Like 20, correct? I am by far not an MLB fan but I always follow the Cubs, I will never flip flop and I like to follow streaks or records.

My guy!! I love seeing him go on this tear because of how he handled the first 3 months of the season. He was getting booed at home for pretty much the entire month of June but still played everyday and gave everything he had. He also answered all of the questions the right way and never made excuses. He has obviously been carrying the team for the last month with McCann and Chipper missing time with injury.

He needs 24 games to tie DiMaggio which is still a loooooooooooooong ways away. He did set an Atlanta team record for consecutive games tonight and trails someone from the Milwaukee Braves for the franchise mark of 37 games.

Speaking of the Cubs, what do you think of Zambrano tonight? Gave up 5 HRs to Atlanta 2 of which came back to back in the 5th inning. He proceeded to throw 2 balls at Chipper Jones and was then tossed from the game. Apparently he cleaned out his locker and left the stadium before the game ended and is now mulling retirement.

Honestly I always thought he could be one of the top pitchers in the league. He just lets his emotions get the best of him. If he messes up, he takes it to heart and tries to over compensate. If he could take the approach of "the last play is in the past and lets move forward" his talent would shine. I just don't know if he can do that.

Uggla is on a tear. Very happy for him. You know Zambrano was in the wrong when none of his teammates even defend him. Really sad as he was a great pitcher just a couple years ago. Lost it mentally, and then lost it physically.

Uggla notched his second straight three-hit performance on Friday and already has four in August. He is batting .370 (47 for 127) with 14 home runs and 31 RBI during his streak, raising his overall average from .173 to its current mark of .229. He by far has the lowest average of anyone to ever have this long of a hitting streak but his production over the past 32 games is undeniable.

Actually this was written before Saturday's game. Now he's up to a heady .232. Still 27points below his .259 career BA.

Of the guys on the hit list ahead of Uggla I think all but Jimmy Rollins hit over .300 for the season when their streak occurred. Rolling's averaged in the .280ss for the 2 season his streak coveraged. Still about 50 point higher than Uggla is averaging.

Adam Dunn gets booed at home every game and he's still hitting .162. Wanna trade?

Uggla is a beast, we thought we made a huge mistake with the 5 yr deal. Couldn't have happen to a better guy. Like someone said earlier, never made excuses for his early play. Go Braves!

It is amazing Uggla was not hitting at all early in the season and now his hitting streak is 33. Who would have thought.

Go Braves.

What is most impressive to me is that of the tens of thousands of MLB players over the past 120 years, he is tied for the 19th longest streak. That is an impressive feat.

Streak is over at 33. But it was fun while it lasted.

Couldn't have picked a better time to end the streak. I'm in a head-to-head fantasy baseball league and the guy I was up against had Uggla. I ended up winning the weekly matchup 541-540, moving up into a better playoff spot at the last second.
