Lackey has pitched in some big games before. Hopefully Urias' nerves get to him and Rizzo and Russell can put some balls in play.

This franchise is cursed.

Best team in baseball all season and now, when it matters, they can't hit the ball out of the infield. Amazing slumpitis by their biggest hitters when they need them the most.

The best team in baseball rarely wins the world series. That's the sad fact.

But this series is so far from over. The team runs high when they get something going. Win the next game and you have a 3-game series with two of them being played at Wrigley. Heck, lose and you're where the Marlins were in 2003.

It's a crap shoot at this point. But why not us?

Because we're Cubs' fans.

I know there's a lot of baseball left, but they were slumping against SF too. There's just no signs of offense short of a few explosive innings over the last seven games. If they don't get the bats going, it's over.

Its not over but you can imagine what this level of pressure is doing to the youth on that team...

If the Cubs win today the Dodgers would have to beat Lester or Arrieta again, correct?

Big game.

Also, I didn't keep up super hard with the Cubs second half... Has Jake A. fallen off in the second half?

We're going to go with Lester, Hendricks, and Arrieta in games 5, 6, and 7. Sounds good, but I think the Dodger's will throw Kershaw two more times in this series. Hopefully he feels the effects of short rest.

Arrieta has fallen off a bit. He's still good but no where near what he was last year or early this year. He's struggling a lot with his control so he's falling behind in counts and throwing over the heart of the plate too often.

Kershaw isn't going two more times unless it's in relief. If he pitches game 5, he will be on two days rest for Game 7.

I thought that same thing but I did hear Smoltz saying last night that they may pitch him two more times. Maybe the second time was in relief. Who knows...hopefully the series gets that far to see.

Kershaw pitched game 4 as a starter (a Tuesday), game 5 as a reliever (a Thursday) and pitched game 2( a Sunday). It wouldn't surprise me to see him pitch game 5 and game 7, if it even gets to that.

He threw 7 pitches in Game 5. Add to it what he threw in the bullpen, that's a normal bullpen session for him between starts.

That tells me we're due, not that we're choking. :)

Cubs fans: Do you remember the last time the Chicago Cubs were up 3-1 in the NLCS? Or do you want me to refresh your memory?

Or how about you go eat a bag of dicks? WTF does 2003 have to do with this team?

Choke artist. Always have been and always will be. A bunch of losers! My boy Josh Becket showed the world what a bunch of losers and cry babies the Cubs are. Prime example Moises Alou. All ate big dicks! Haha

Isn't the whole point of the Cubs that they haven't won for awhile? Isn't that why they aren't just another team with a big payroll?

Right, but Sherm's stupid comment was about the 2003 NLCS when the Cubs were up 3-1. That's not the current situation so it has nothing to do with this series.

Yep. Exact same team and situation. Mark Prior and Kerry Wood are going to blow the next two games.
